Split level/balcony railings and toddlers... talk to me...
So I'm now rethinking adding a few swirly pieces in our wrought iron railing as they could some day become a step ladder for DS to hurdle the railing (about 7-8 feet from top of railing to tile floor entry)!
Today DS realized that he can reach the top of the railing and is already starting to do a little leg up action.
Anyone have any guards like plexiglass or some giant version of breathable bumpers? Or did you have some good climbing the railing discipline tactics?
There is no plan to put furniture against the railing as this middle level is his play area and I like to have a clear view of him if I'm down in the kitchen.
Gonna research railing guards now because I could not fall asleep just thinking about it!

We have plexi glass upstairs and it works perfectly. I believe we got it from ONE STEP AHEAD! HTH!! You don't want to put furniture there either because he can climb on the furniture too and that can be used as a step stool to go over as well. HTH

Yeah, that's what I see is the plastic from OSA. I can only imagine the fingerprints to clean! It just may be our only option.

Found this Safety 1st Railnet. I wish it came in black to be a little more invisible against the black railing.
Anyone have/use this with positive reviews?

We used the Railnet and had no problems. It was up for a few years. I used zip ties (sometimes called cable ties) to tie it to the bannister rather than the string they provided.

We have the plexiglass one on our railing. It wasn't easy to put up, DH was cursing the whole time I liked it better than the netting because it's less noticeable. It's not too hard to clean, but it does get lots of little fingerprints on it.

Luckily my older DD was (is) not a climber so we've has no issues. If DD #2 is a daredevil, then I will get a net or plexi-glass.

I know! Neither did I until my mom pointed out that I should not keep his activity table near the railing because before I know it, he'll figure out how to climb on it!
I'm going to talk it over with DH. I think I'll play it by ear and see what he does. He's pretty much always supervised when he's up there so hopefully I can keep his interest away from the railing!
