Sports - Little League, etc.

This question is totally for future reference only at this point being that Thomas is only one... but when looking into getting your child involved in sports, do you look for the teams (say little league team) in your school district? For example, I live in Massapequa, but in Plainedge school district. If I wanted to look into little league, would I be looking for Plainedge Little League or Massapequa? Does anyone know what age they start? I think it's 5.

Look into your area's teams (it's really up to you which team to go to). Also look into YMCA organizations as well as any private teams. (alot of them start sooner)

Usually, the town organizes the little league teams. Sometimes, the school district will send home notices for registration, but not always. In my town, the leagues post signs at the side of the road a few weeks before registration begins.

ETS: some churches have separate leagues, too...so if you belong to a church or temple, you might have another option to explore that.
