Spotting- 28 Weeks

I apologize in advance for the length and if I give TMI. Saturday I felt fine, no cramping, no pains or anything at all. I went to the bathroom (pee) and when I wiped there was 3 small bright red blood spots. There was nothing in the toilet and nothing in my underwear. I immediately called the on call Doctors and they didn't think much of it but said if I wanted to go meet them at the hospital I could. DH and I went and I got completely checked out. They monitored the baby's heart for an hour (everything was great)...they did a sono (everything looked fine) and they did an internal and said everything looked fine/ good. They couldn't pin point what it could have been and said to follow up with my doctors on Monday. I felt better after that cause they assured me everything was ok. Sunday night rolls around and I go to the bathroom (pee) and there was 1 small spot (smaller than the size of a dime) on the toilet paper. After that there was nothing at all there and I (knock on wood) haven't had anything since. I can't help but be nervous cause this is the first time my whole pregnancy anything like this has happened.

I tried calling my regular gyno doctor today and she is off on Monday and doesn't return until tomorrow at 4pm. I asked for 2 of the other doctors I previously saw and one doesn't work Monday's and the other wasn't in until today at 2pm. I left messages for him to call me back but I have a feeling he won't call back.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm not as nervous as I was Saturday cause the hospital made it seem like it was nothing and I feel the baby moving around all day but seeing bright red spots of blood is the last thing I want to see. Plus, every time I think of everything I convince myself I have some sort of cramp which is messing with my head (unfortunately I'm great at playing mind games with myself Chat Icon ). TIA

Re: Spotting- 28 Weeks

I'm no expert...but it sounds like you have MORE than covered your bases. Personally, based on the tiny amount you are describing without cramping, I can't imagine you have anything to worry about. I don't have much experience with spotting, so I'm not much help...but it sounds like you did the right thing contacting the hospital/doctor. Try to take it easy until you get in to see your regular doc, and maybe start kick counting if you haven't already...just to be safe. Do your best to stay calm and stress free!

Is it possible at all it could have been a hemorrhoid? That would be bright red and not affect baby at all.

Spotting- 28 Weeks

This happened to me several times throughout my most recent pregnancy and my biggest scare actually happened at 28 weeks also. As long as your cervix is closed and everything looks good, I would TRY not to worry too much. I know that is a lot easier said than done! In my case everything was fine and I wound up delivering at 37 weeks.
