spotting in 1st trimester?
I started spotting this morning - dark brown blood, so no issues. It stopped right away too. But I just had some more spotting (no cramping) and mostly brown, but I saw a tiny bit that had a red tinge. Should I be worried?
My OB said the only thing they could do is confirm that I was still pregnant by sono and blood if I went in.
Thanks - like you all know, I'm feeling a bit nervous

Re: spotting in 1st trimester?
Unfortunatly theres no way to know. BUT to stay positive , think positive...many women have spotting with no further problems!

7-8 weeks - I had a PAP last week - so I'm hopeful that is the reason. the OB said it is posible even 6 days ago
thanks ladies

Re: spotting in 1st trimester?
When I saw my doctor for my first visit - I mentioned that I haven't had any spotting or bleeding. He was like Oh well even if you did I wouldn't necessarily worry as as many as 50% of women have some sort of bleeding or spotting during pregnancy.
I would call your Dr and see whether they want to see you. But I wouldn't stress until they tell you something isn't right as stress won't help your pregnancy.

Re: spotting in 1st trimester?
You were right to call your OB. This happened to me Monday and Tuesday of this week (I will be 12 weeks tomorrow). My OB said the same - if I was really concenred, they would do a sono. But since it went away, I haven't gone in. I have an appointment Monday.

Re: spotting in 1st trimester?
thanks - I'm reading up (which isn't always a good thing) and they say spotting isn't really an issue and that bleeding isn't always bad, unless you are bleeding through pads - so I am hopeful!
I wonder if picking up my son is a bad thing?
the OB also said that it was good that I was still experiencing m/s

I had light brown spotting today too in the morning. It went away though. And it didnt show up on my undies only when i wiped. Sorry if TMI but Dh and I BD'd a couple of days ago so i think that is the reason.

Re: spotting in 1st trimester?
i've responded to a few other posts like these so you're not alone. i spotted mostly brown colored in my 5th week then again in my 7th. the 1st time i called my dr. they said that type of spotting was normal so early on as long as it wasn't bright red or a lot of it with cramps. i got through that week but then when it came back i really couldn't take it and on a sunday my dr. let me come to the ER where they did a sono and i heard the HB. anyway, it was a relief to know that all was well. it has stopped since- i am only about 9 wks. my dr. said that she thinks my cervix is just very sensitve and perhaps BDing caused it but that the blood was not coming from the baby. i am sure that you are really fine and so is the baby. just keep an eye on it and if you really feel you need your mind eased insist that your dr. see you sooner than your 1st appointment.
