SPR - how do you motivate yourself to work out and find the time?

I have lost all of the baby weight, but still want to lose like another 10lbs. The state my body is in despite losing the weight in atrocious!!!!! I joined Lucille Roberts LAST June (yes, 2008) and have yet to go but wont cancel it bc I "intend" too.

I was HUGE while I was pregnant and Im pretty sure not a single one of my ab muscles are going anything but flopping around all limp inside me, LOL. I still have a serious pooch and Im all kinds of stretched out.

I want to get to the gym and get myself in shape before we trying for #2, in a year or so. Im afraid if I go into another pregnancy without fixing what the last one did to me, Ill be a million times worse off afterwards.

Those that go, how do you motivate yourself? I cant even just will myself to go. How do you find the time? As it is once we both pick up DS from daycare, get home, give him dinner, bath, bed its 8:00pm before i know it and LR is only open until 9. So to go a few days a week Id have to leave before DS goes to bed. Which I have two fold guilt about...1) I only see DS for like 2 hours a day as it is and 2) I feel bad that I would be leaving DH 3Xs a week to do the entire night routine by himself.

WDYD? Anyone else in the same boat? oh and in case you were wondering here is a pic of me 7.5mos pregnant!

Only half my answer is gong to help you since I am a SAHM.

I joined a gym that was a block a way from DS's nursey school and also really close to my house (3 miles close). I knew if the gym was more than a 5-10 minute drive I wasn't going to go. I checked it out in January 2009 because I decided it was time to do something for myself. If you signed up you had a free month trial. I knew that if I went a few times a week for the month that I would have the motivation to continue and I haven't stopped since. In that first month I had seen some minor physical results but they made me feel great. Now, when I don't go 4 days a week I feel guilty and get CRANKY.
I feel so much better when I work out in the morning. I have the energy to deal with tantrums and what ever else the day brings.
They have babysitting so the kids go there and I go durning the day. I knew if I picked a gym that didn't have that I would never go because DH doesn't get home the same time everyday.
My gym offers classes, the gym equipment/cardio and then something they call a quick train. It is a PT with up to 9 people. It is basically a circuit train for 28 minutes with cardio in between. So if I only had 45 minutes to work out I knew I could do a quick train and I was happy. I was working out on the equipment but my joints were starting to bothering me so I went to classes. I take 2 pilates classes, 2 zumba classes (that is my cardio) and then 1 cardio sculpt class.

If you go Sat. and Sun. then you can do one day durning the week. Having your DH put your DS to bed one night a week alone isn't a bad thing. Think of it as bonding for them to do. Maybe that one night a week is a class that way the time goes fast for you.

If you stick with it for 3 weeks you will feel so much better.

You don't look huge at all. With #1 I was 130lbs pp and gained 45lbsChat Icon . I was pretty big at 39 weeks . I don't have a pic but my SIL does and have yet to see it 3 years later. Maybe it's better that wayChat Icon

Re: SPR - how do you motivate yourself to work out and find the time?

I go to kickboxing classes twice a week, and the gym 3 days a week for weights and running... so its a total of 5 days since I am home for the summer...

What I will have to do in september is:

either: go in the morning before work... when DD is still sleeping... or go saturday, sunday, and right after work one other day.... it is going to be hard.. i will only get to see dd for a few hours a day when I work... Start going to the gym 2 times.. sat and sun morning... and then work in a walk/run after DS goes to bed outside or a workout video.. whatever you can do...

I had to realize that I cant feel guilty..I have to take care of myself too.. and DD is better off with a healthy mom.. rather than one who is unhealthy and unhappy...

I think it is. I would sit with a trainer for one session so she/he can come up with a routine for you to do between those 3 days.
