SPR/Fashion--being a SAHM and trying to avoid looking like a slob

So, my sister has threatened me on occasion with sending pictures of me to 'what not to wear'---its not that I look terrible, its just some days I leave the house a little fashion challenged (aka sweats/baseball hat/etc)
I am pregnant & running after a 20 month old that doesn't stop---but I guess I really shouldn't make excuses!
So what do you wear to look semi put together? Shoes are always a challenge for me too, all my 'old' shoes are nicer and too dressy, I wore sandals all summer and need more put together shoes then my PUMAs everyday. Help!

I wear the same 2 pr of jeans, and whatever top I can gather. My shoes are flipflops, and I don't know what I am going to do now that it's getting cooler. Being a SAHM I certainly won't be spending $ on clothes for myself. I just make sure I do my makeup Chat Icon

During the fall and winter, whenever I go out I'm usually wearing jeans, a sweater and ballet flats or little loafer type shoes. Today, I'm wearing jeans, an empire wasted tank type thing and a cardigan...still hanging on to those flip flops though!! Also, it makes me feel better to put on makeup every day...it doesn't mean a full face or anything; usually just blush and mascara, but frequently lipstick for a little "extra."

I'm a sahm and most days I really don't want to get out of my PJs!!! When I do, I wear jeans, sweater and usually flip flops. Since I'm 30 weeks pregnant, many of my shoes don't fit!!

I try so hard to keep up with fashion. If I am going to grunge out...I wear fashionable athletic pants and shirts. I always try and put on my make up and keep up with hair cuts and waxing. Sandals is all I wear from May till October lol I have my fave pair of comfy sneakers that I have had for 2 years now......blahChat Icon

I wear tank tops under a dress shirt with a few buttons popped open and a nice pair of jeans....easy and comfy.

Re: SPR/Fashion--being a SAHM and trying to avoid looking like a slob

Some days it's so bad, I don't get a chance to make myself look decent. It's upsetting.

I have learned if I dont get up before DD to get dressed and showered, it's hard to get it done. But when you are sleep deprived, it's hard to get up early just to get dressed.

I always remind myself I have to do it, b/c God forbid I ever had an emergency or had to call the police/fire, ambulence, etc, it would not be a good senario fo rme to be seen LIKE THIS.Chat Icon

I literally would get dressed to the nines every day for work, I adore fashion and love make up...now being a SAHM I'm literally in sweat suits most days...I love the days that I can actually sneak in putting make up on and getting dressed to go out with DD...if I do get dressed just to go out I'll put a pair of leggings on a cute top and ballet flats etc...I'm such a heels girl that when we go out on the weekends I literally go through 80 pairs of heels to feel which one I want to wear that nightChat Icon

Usually jeans and a t-shirt, with sneakers or flip flops.
When I go out at night without the babies, I will dress nicer.
In the fall/winter, I will make use of the riding boot trend!

As an aside, I would LOVE to be nominated for what not to wear! $5000 to spend on clothes and shoes!

Re: SPR/Fashion--being a SAHM and trying to avoid looking like a slob

I usually wear a comfy top with a colar (polo) type. If I am going to be home for a while during the day, I wear comfy yoga pants or drawstring pants but put on a skirt, capry or jeans when I live the house. I make sure the top would go with the bottom I pick so I do a quick change. I don't need to do a whole outfit change. Just change pants. I wear ballet flats for quick errands.

I got a cute 3/4 sleeve jacket to go over my tops so it looks put together.

Just remember that it takes the same amount of time to put on flimzy clothes as it is to put nicer one on.

I buy mix and match. It's much easier and quicker to get ready and not as complicated.
Just pick your clothes to be comfy but not frumpy.

I buy basic colors. Black, beige, dark denim and my touch of color are in my jackets or tops (red, teal, pink, etc..). Shoes: I now do basic black, white, brown. I also get comfy shoes but still some style. I like Born brand for my flats and sandals. Very comfy! Again, not many outfits and not many shoes. Just basic so I don't spend much time deciding on what to wear.

Same for jewerly. I used to wear lots of custom jewerly. Now it's basic pearl necklace, diamond studs, etc...

For the fall, invest in a nice fitted blazer or jacket that will pair with jeans and shirts. It makes you look much more put together rather than grapping a sweatshirt. Also, I will wear jeans and a black t or something very casual, but will dress it up so I don't look like a slob with some chunky jewlery. Get some cute ballet flats or wedges that are casual for an everyday shoe.

Plan your outfits. Before I go to bed I think through what I will wear the next day so I don't go to sweats by default for thinking I have nothing to wear.

I'm no fashion plate, but little accessories and just a minute of thought into your outfit makes a world of differnece. Plus, the days I dont get up, showered and dress are like wasted days for me...i do nothing...i feel cranky, etc. Looking nice and feeling good about how you look will give you a completely new outlook on your day. Re: SPR/Fashion--being a SAHM and trying to avoid looking like a slob

I'm not a SAHM and I still look a hot mess. For work, I wear suits so my clothing is easy but my hair/make-up is a mess. Then on the weekends, I throw on the first pair of shorts and t shirt that I see. I bought a bunch of stuff on sale at abercrombie so it looks like I wear the same thing all the time since the t-shirt/shorts look so similar in style. haha I'm a mess.

i'm home on maternity leave and LOVE not having to dress up...but i am looking like the biggest slob there ever was. i have just resigned that right now, my kids look cute but i don't. i have an 8 wk old and a 2 yr old. the last thing i have is time to really really take care of me. i need to lose weight too. so i wear yoga pants every day and a shirt and a little makeup too. hair is ALWAYS in a pony tail Chat Icon
once i go back to work in December i'll have to look decent again. i don't think i know whats in style and how to shop anymore!Chat Icon

Pants, Tops (if I know Im not going anywhere, I'll where tops with writing and such), if im going out somewhere I try to stick with the solid colors.
Still wearing flip flops, sandals...NOT ready to give them up!
Today's weather is perfect for top, pants, sandals and light sweater! Love it!
I'm "that" mom whose hair is up in a ponytail, but, when I get to DS' school or wherever, hair is down and I won't lie, sunglasses on head to keep hair from falling in my face.Chat Icon

Re: SPR/Fashion--being a SAHM and trying to avoid looking like a slob

i'm not a SAHM but i do have casual nice clothes for when i am home.

i'm also pregnant so i know how you feel!!

my standby is jeans, ballet flats, and a short- or long-sleeved t-shirt.

hair i can't help you with because mine is short so i have to "do" it every day, but i wold advise you to check out some websites to get ideas for easy updos - so if you don't have a chance to shower you still look put together.

I wear a lot of the victoria's secret velour outfits. Sometimes, i'll wear the hoodie with a pair of jeans. My shoes right now are sneakers or flip flops. All winter long...Uggs. I make sure I have makeup on and my hair is not always in a ponytail...to feel somewhat normal...Chat Icon

Re: SPR/Fashion--being a SAHM and trying to avoid looking like a slob

Being that i am preg and chasing after a 1 year old I am guilty of being in sweat pants all day... if i go out i do actually put jeans on BUT that is only if i am going out with someone else... today i went to the mall with just ds and was in running pants

as for shoes, having had many feet issues i am strickly a sneaker girl and i am not afraid to admit it
