Sprained Ankle--do you still work out doing other things?

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have been doing barre and yoga classes throughout my pregnancy. I slipped and sprained my ankle on Sunday--it's still swollen but I can walk fairly normally now and put weight on it -- as long as I don't do anything crazy, it doesn't hurt. Would you do light exercise on a sprained ankle if it's feeling better but still inflamed or not chance it?

I'm really struggling as working out is still my outlet to keep me sane emotionally. Work has not been good lately and not being able to stay active is really putting me down in the dumps.

I would try and do floor exercises maybe so that you don't have to put weight on your ankle. Sprained ankles are no joke when you're not pregnant (have done it many times), but being PG and joints/muscles looser during pregnancy, I wouldn't fool around with it.

Try doing floor exercises like leg lifts, etc or doing a chair workout, or light boxing while sitting down. All things you can do to raise your heart rate to get a burn, but not put unnecessary pressure on your ankle.

You can still workout but you should make drastic changes when it comes to movements that involve your ankle. I would recommend a stationary bike, or better yet, the seated bike that you rotate with your arms.

The OP hurt there knee (not totally the same but still similar)

There was a lot of good suggestions in there. One huge one for you could be swimming

Do you have access to an indoor pool? Swimming might be a safe option.
