Squirrels in my walls & attic! Yuck!
Apparently I am running a squirrel condo. I can hear them in my walls sometimes. I like them outside my house, but not inside peeing, pooping and possibly eating through wiring.
The little furry devils run up the side of my house, right on the wooden shingles, and into spaces under the eves on one side of my house that are so small the wildlife removal guy says they can't get in, yet I have photos of them poised there looking at me.
They also tore off a shinge on the other side of my house to gain easier access though a hole the insulation was blown into.
He's just set a trap by the insulation hole, but it is a kill trap so I am avoiding that side of the house because I do not want to see the result. I am such a coward.
How many squirrels might be in my house?

Squirrels in my walls & attic! Yuck!
sorry to hear.
I didnt even realize i had them in my place in NY until my cat caught a baby one and shook it to death. Found it inside my house next to my stove. Seems he had made it through the walls and under a radiator before my cat dug him out and 'played' with him. I had to pick it up and take it outside. My hubby wouldn't LOL.
After another wildlife death (chipmunk) they seemed to have stopped. Weather and oppurtunity seem to be the key.
Good Luck.

Re: Squirrels in my walls & attic! Yuck!
we had one in our attic it sounded like it could have been more than one squirrel with all the noise it made, but just was one! you definitely need to take care of it because like you said they can eat through wiring and tear apart insulation. i remember the exterminator saying we were lucky it was a male squirrel - female ones could build a nest or whatever you call it and he said its much more of a problem to remove a female and the babies!!! most important thing is to find out where they are getting in and block it off - the exterminator did that all for us and set and removed the trap. good luck!

Ack! I'm glad you're getting rid of them. My parents had a nest in their chimney. My mom was freaking out for weeks until they figured it out because they had fleas in their house & no dog!
But you aren't alone...for your reading enjoyment :) Holy @!*($ post :)

Squirrels in my walls & attic! Yuck!
That was hilarious! Thanks for posting it.
I used to be a RE broker and one time had five people with me to show a house to. No sooner had we steped through the front door than I heard water spraying ominously. I followed the sound and found a broken pipe in the laundry and water spraying all over the room. I retreated to the kitchen and called a plumber.
As I was speaking to him I noticed there was a big heap of torn paper towels in the sink. Thinking that was odd I walked over and lifted some, only to discover a family of squirrels sleeping in a heap. They had pulled down the pape rtowel roll, shredded it and made themselves a comfy nest to winter in. I quickly put the bunch of torn paper towel in my hand back over the sleeping squirrels, which hadn't woken up, and backed all of us out of the house.
When I got back to the office I called a wildlife removal service and then the owners with the unwelcome news about the critters and the broken pipe in their house.
