SSRI Question
my doc put me on an SSRI (lexapro 20mg) 2 yrs ago for really bad anxiety attacks.
My DH and I would love to ttc in the summer. I want to wean off of the lexapro 20 mg. but have read online about the REALLY bad withdrawal symptoms.
Has anyone weaned off of an SSRI? what was your experience and how did you go about it?
I am very nervous.
Thanks

Re: SSRI Question
as long as you dont stop it cold turkey you will be fine. Follow your doctors instructions for coming off of it.

Re: SSRI Question
i never went off cold turkey but never weened myself off as long as the docs recomended. As long as you gradually keep cutting the doses in half and then every other day you should be fine. Since I had my DS and am back on Lexapro (10mg) I am SOOOO forgetful and there are time when I forget to take it for 2 days and I feel really sick. So there is some truth to the withdrawal symptoms but they vary with each person. Good luck with TTC. And remember that if you find that you are too anxious without the meds you can always opt to stay on them since you also need to think about your own wellbeing. Speak to your doc about it. In my case being pregnant was a natural cure for my anxiety. I never felt better. And then I gave birth and it was back full on. Ughh.
