St. Augustine, FL
Anyone been there? I'm looking for opinions, recommendations, alternatives (if you don't care for it), etc. TIA!

Bumping - seriously, no one's ever been here at all? Driven through, gone for the day... anything?

Re: St. Augustine, FL
I think that's near Daytona? I've never been there... how did you choose that location?
Are you looking to go on vacation somewhere in FL? If so, I recommend Key Biscayne, Miami, Hollywood, Key West or St. Petersburg.

Re: St. Augustine, FL
I was there for a day once. I thought it was one of the more interesting cities in FL but it didn't seem like there is tons to do. We just walked around the little shopping area, looked at the fort, ate dinner and left.
Not too far away (north?) is Amelia Island, which is really nice.

Re: St. Augustine, FL
My Best friend used to live there. The town is really quaint and cute and the beach is nice. I stayed with her, so no hotel reccommendations or anything.

We haven't officially chosen yet. We're going to be in Clearwater/St. Petersburg for a few days visiting my grandpa and going to the beach, and then spend a day at Epcot all together with my family. DH and I wanted to take another 2 days or so by ourselves somewhere, but stay relatively close to the mid-FL area since our plane tix will be into and out of Tampa.
We figure we'll hit Miami and the keys some other time when we've got more vacation time and can go further south, and I was looking for places with things to do besides beaches - since we have plenty of those here in CA - and the history in St. Augustine sounded interesting. But there wasn't a whole lot of info, so I'm not sure.

Re: St. Augustine, FL
I went there years ago, and we loved it. We rented a condo, and went into town and explored other parts of St. Augustine besides the town, went shopping in the malls, went tot he beach, etc. They have a lot to do, I went as a teenager, and I think there is a website for the county. Try to google it, I think it is Flagler county, but I am not sure. HTH We might go there next year for summer vacation.

Re: St. Augustine, FL
i used to go here every year for a family reunion. it was fun, we used to stay on anastasia island in condos right on the beach. i don't rememeber the name of the place, but there were great restaurants and stuff.
if you go, you should go to the alligator farm. if it's still there, they have thousands of alligators, it's was a good time. we'd go every year!
