Staffing Agencies (Sorry a little long)
Okay, i have a question, for those of you with experience with staffing agencies. Last year i worked with a staffing agency briefly. THey sent me out on a temp to perm job that was AMAZING! It was such a great job and if i were still there i know it would have been permanent but unfortunately the company i was working for unexpectedly went out of business after the partners split.
Well i am absolutly miserable in the job i am at now. I am waiting to hear about a few jobs but if they don't work out i am considering going back to the staffing agency.
My question is, for those of you who have had experience, how long does it usually take before a temp to perm goes permanent if they decide to keep you? Does the possible employer have a contract with the staffing agency that you have to be temp for a certain period of time?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!

Re: Staffing Agencies (Sorry a little long)
I have never worked for a staffing agency, but my mom did when she was laid off from a job...I can ask her if you want.

If you can find out for me I would greatly appreciate it. My job right now is completely ruing my life. I argue more with DH because i am unhappy at where i am and there is no opportunity for growth or advancement so it is definately not a career i would be able to do for the rest of my life. I have never felt this way about a job before. Thanks again.

it actually differs depending on the terms of the company you're temping for.. they may say they want to try someone out for 6 weeks, or 6 months. You'd have to ask the staffing agency about each individual job. good luck!

It varies widely. Most common is 3 months temp to perm.

Re: Staffing Agencies (Sorry a little long)
I work for a staffing agency. I would say that the industry standard is 90 days. Although I have clients that have hired someone after 2 weeks and pay a buy-out and have heard of others in industry waiting 120 days (6 months).
Leaving a permanent job for a temp to hire can be risky, I would make sure the agency is reputable and they do not make you sign a contract or pay any money. Some agencies (I think Stivers) makes people sign a contract to stay in a position for a certain amount of time or else they are liable for the fee.
