stain - weatherproof - waterproof - HELP!!!!

we have a small deck off the one side of the house and a large deck off the other side. DH powerwashed the smaller deck this past week. It looks so great!!! We were going to stain the deck a little darker to help unify the color.

but last night at HD we found weather and water proofing stuff that comes in tints.

We are at a lost for what to do. Do we just stain, Stain and waterproof clear or Water/weather with the tint of color???

I would definitly waterproof it.

The color you pick depends on what you want your deck to look like. Is it a new deck or old? If its old, you might want to powerwash it, get it clean then pick a nice stain color and water proof it after.

last year we powerwashed our very shabby deck & it came so clean, but the wood was not in perfect condition. We used a "solid stain" from home depot. We're really happy with the way it looks.

I think we are just going to stain, since you need to stain every 2 years or so. The weather/waterproof stuff would need to be removed first before the next time we stain
