Standing in the crib

so I thought since she JUST learned to crawl that I could just deal with that for a while...she pulls herself up now too. So when I put her to sleep she used to go down peacefully, now she thinks it's fun to pull herself up and stand and cry. She's was always such a good nighttime sleeper.

So now do I go in there and lay her back down while she screaming???? I'm resorting back to CIO, because last night I rocked her for almost 2 hours.

Oh I hope this doesn't last long...Chat Icon

Re: Standing in the crib

when you figure it out let me know, DD just started pulling herself up but she likes to SIT and scream her head off and CIO stopped working for us, she won't lay herself back down.
I feel for you!

Oh lordy, I have a stander on my hands now, too. AND the best part is that she does it on her own, in the middle of the floor. She gets up on her hands and knees, then scoots her feet under her, pushes up onto her feet, gets halfway up and crashes onto the floor.Chat Icon Chat Icon Last time I checked, she wasn't supposed to be doing this yetChat Icon I swear her goal in life is going to be to give me a heart attack!

Ah, the stand in cry routine. I know it well because I fell for it every time. It will last as long as it takes for her to train you to come - whether it's 2 minutes or 10 minutes. My kids had me trained too quickly.

Hope you have better luck than I did.Chat Icon

Re: Standing in the crib

i know the stand and cry too well myself!!

Its easy when they go down without a fight - but its a totally different story when they are unable to get themselves standing and will cry for you uncontrollably.

We let Julia cry for a few minutes - it usually tires her out - and she may go down my herself and back to sleep or we pick her up and she calms herself down and we lay her back asleep.

Re: Standing in the crib

We went through this for almost an hour last night!!! At first I picked her up stood next to her crib and just held her until she calmed down. She was almost asleep so I put her back into the crib. Well, about 3 minutes later, she was screaming again. I would usually let her cry for about 10 minutes or so and then go back in and lie her down again. She finally fell back to sleep at almost 12:30am (this started when she woke up at 11:15)!!!

Marron also used to be a terrific nighttime sleeper. Now she wakes at least once during the night. I read that this is normal -- that as they are learning to do more things, they are excited and want to keep doing them so they keep waking up. It makes sense, but it is getting really upsetting for me. I know she needs her sleep, but she just keeps waking up.

She also is standing up on everything!!!!! She crawls to get to something else to stand up on. She was doing the "standing" thing in the middle of the floor about a month ago and it has now progressed to walking along the furniture or whatever she can grab onto.

ETA: we never had to use CIO but lately have been having to resort to it. Chat Icon
