Stanley Young America vs. Bellini

DH and I are having a really tough time making a decision on baby furniture. So far the two collections that we really like are from Stanley Young America and Bellini.

Does anyone have either of these brands of baby furniture? Any pros and cons you can share?

The one difference for me seems to be that the Bellini crib is both convertible and has a side rail that goes up and down but DH thinks it really isn't going to make a difference to have the movable side rail.

Any info that anyone can provide that may help us make our decision easier would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!!

Edited for spelling

Re: Stanley Young America vs. Bellini

I only looked at three lines of furniture - Stanley, Munire and Bellini. I ended up purchasing a set from Stanley's Young America Line. I'm very happy with it. The quality is great. I liked that with the Stanley you could add pieces over time and let the furniture grow with your child. The styles are classic and were more my taste. A lot of the Belini cribs had wheels which I did not like. I also liked that the Stanley line was made in America.

Here are a few pictures of my almost finished nursery.

The pictures were too large but I put them in my album.

I have the crib and 7 drawer dresser with changing station from the Serenity Collection in Cinnamon. Also a Dutalier glider. I live in NJ now and purchased it from a kids furniture store there.

The nursery looks great! I am in NJ too!! Any chance you want to FM me the store you go it in, especially if you had a good experience with them? Do you love the glider?

We got SYA and love it. I also looked at Munire and while I liked it, some of the pieces were too big for our nursery and we ordered SYA from north carolina so it was cheaper. I have pics in my album.

How did you order from north carolina?

Thanks again!

We went with Bellini, we ordered our furniture last sunday and it's coming in this coming Monday!! The 2 things that sold me on Bellini over other sets we looked at were the drop rail on the crib and the large changing table.

Congratulations on ordering your furniture! It is really funny that you mention the 2 big selling points....because those are the 2 big things for me as well! Particulary the drop rail along with the ability to convert. The large changing table is a huge plus too.

Which store did you order from?

I got the Bellini furniture too because of those reasons as well. The drop rail was very important to me because I'm not that tall and know that I would have had a hard time bending over a crib (particularly after the mattress is dropped). I can't even imagine doing it if I am pregnant with baby #2.

I also love the changing table. It's the only one I've seen that you position the baby full length in front of you, rather than sideways. I think that is so much more comfortable and easier.

I purchased mine from the Manhasset Bellini store.

Good luck making your decision!

Yup those were the 2 things that sold me, plus they were offering 20% off last weekend. They may still offer it if you mention that you were aware of the sale. We ordered from the Huntington store. I can't wait until it's delivered Chat Icon

Re: Stanley Young America vs. Bellini

We just ordered our baby furniture this past weekend and we got Stanley/Young America. We purchased the "Serenity" set in Cinnamon. We thought it it was beautiful and it seemed to be made well. While still expensive it was more affordable than Bellini AND we were able to have my friend oder it for us through Direct Buy which saved us over $1000.

We looked at Bellini's stuff and I wasn't overly impressed and nothing really jumped out at me. I've also heard from a lot of people that their furniture is very overpriced and not really better than some other brands. I guess it's a matter of choice and budget but I'm very happy with our decision.......I can't wait for it to be delivered. Chat Icon

We ordered the same set. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with it. We too got the 7 drawer dresser along with the changing station for the top, the tall chest of drawers, the crib with crib drawer and conversion kit, and the nightstand. I also ordered a Dutailier glider and ottoman. I can't wait for it all to arrive!!!!

I have been in both the Rockville Center store and the Short Hills NJ store. Both offered the 20% off. I actually had a much better experience in RVC, than in SH but since I live in NJ the RVC store blew me off and told me to order from SH (which I thought was a little strange). That said RVC was offering free delivery and the price overall was less than SH....hmm. This is part of the reason I am on the fence.

Regardless, congrats again on your order and enjoy!

I got very lucky because my friend has a membership to Direct Buy and luckily they carried the set so we got it through them. The whole set would have cost us about $3300 if we went through Buy Buy Baby where we originally saw it but we got it all for about $1950 through Direct Buy so it was a HUGE savings!!

We got SYA and love it. I also looked at Munire and while I liked it, some of the pieces were too big for our nursery and we ordered SYA from north carolina so it was cheaper. I have pics in my album.

Thank you! I obsessed over it and I am really happy how it turned out. The pics don't show the name over her crib and that is my favorite part!

Anyway, I ordered from High Point Furniture Sales. Basically, you call/email them with the pieces you want a quote on and they will call you back with the price. You have to put down a deposit (50% I think) and the rest is due when they deliver. You save on tax plus it was cheaper than ordering from BBB even with the coupon. It took about 16 weeks for me to get it though and they had estimated 12 weeks. The changing table attachment was cracked when we got it and they sent out a new one immediately so we received it within days. Overall, though, I was very happy.

Until the first time the baby projectile poops all over you, then you'll realize why every other manufacturer faces the changing table sideways.

Re: Stanley Young America vs. Bellini

Dh & I decided on SYA. We were not impressed with Bellini at all.

Selling points on SYA that helped me decide on them over the others we were considering:

# 1 . . . MADE IN AMERICA!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
With all the BS about lead paint in things made in China I didn't want a crib with a rail my child could potentially be sucking on coming from there.

# 2 . . . JPMA certified. In the grand scheme of things it may not be that much of a difference, but they were one of only a few manufacturers that had entire furniture lines (not just cribs) certified.

# 3 . . . Price. Compared to other companies their price/quality ratio was the best IMHO.

# 4 . . . Quality. The drawers on the furniture are all wood and dovetailed. The weight of the dresser to prevent tipping accidents was superior to most, as it doesn't require an extra anchor.

You can see our nursery without our glider HERE
