Star Exemption question
We just closed on our house on Monday and I know we have to file for the STAR discount but I am not sure what we should do. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Depending on what town you live in, you have until a certain date to file. A lot of towns have the Basic Star Application available for dowload on their website.

Call your town hall and ask for the STAR dept they will take your info down and send you the application.
I am in the Town of Huntington and my deadline is March 1, 2008 to send it in

Call your local Town and get the application if it's not available online. Town of Brookhaven is avail online on the Town web site.
Next, contact the DMV in person or via mail and get your license reknewed with your new address. ALL State STAR applications require this to show that your home is your permanent residence. Town's will accept the temporary license if you have a photo idea.
