star of the week or something like that
DS has star of the week, this week.
a parent or sibling can come to class to read a book or share a hobby.
has anyone gone to class and not read a book. I'm shy and DH might not be able to take off from work. I know they are only in K but I can't see myself reading a book to them.
anyone do anything different?

Re: star of the week or something like that
Jaidy was star of the week 2 weeks ago and I did go in and read a book. Other suggestions were to bring in a project for all of them to do or send in little goody bags for the class.

DH took off once & I took off another time to read a book (sorry). I would ask the teacher for ideas on crafts for them to take home & a snack to bring in.
The poster was a big deal too.

What about going to Michael's or AC Moore and finding some of those foam crafts that they can make? Maybe a winter-craft? Or maybe you can play a game with them?

My dad took DC last year when he was student of the week. This year DH and I each did a day
We don't read books, we do a small activity with the class

Re: star of the week or something like that
DS had it last year. DH read a book (I wouldn't have done it, so I understand you) and we brought a craft project that we ordered in oriental trading. Because it was before Mother's day, be brought little foam frames for them to put stickers and draw.
A winter project sounds cute. Just think of something they can do in a short period of time.

Re: star of the week or something like that
I am like you, very shy. I was so nervoud to go into DDs classroom. I wound up sucking it up because she really wanted me there and it meant a lot to her. I work in a dentist office and brought a book about going to the dentist. I read that and then brought little tooth coloring pictures for them to color. They loved it and all of her friends told her how awesome her Mom was. Yet I thought I was cheesy.
