Starbucks closings....
I just checked the on line list of the 600 closing Starbucks. The one I love near my house is closing. It's certainly not the end of the world, but I loved that location and have spent many happy hours there with so many people important to me
I always went there right before my birthday to get a holiday coffee in a red cup.
Several LI locations are closing. I know it's $$, but I liked treating myself from time to time and it was just a great location.

The EM starbucks was "my" starbucks It seemed to be a great location- near NUMC and EM High school.
This sounds so silly, but I had some very nice times sitting in the chairs by the fireplace with my mom or a friend. I'm so down now!

Re: Starbucks closings....
I just saw that. There do seem to be several on LI that are closing. Two in westbury alone, when thre are only 3 in all of Weschester County that are closing. I also expected more in Manhattan--there are only about 6 that are closing.

Talk about competing against itself. In Boston, there's literally a street where on one side of the road there is a Starbucks and directly across the street is another one. DD, too.

Whew! Mine are safe! I'll have to go to the drivethrough on my way into the movies though.

I know...cannabalism at it's finest. There are two in Penn Station - one on both ends.
Didn't Steven Wright do a skit on that?

And have you ever tried to get a morning coffee at either of them in the morning rush? They are both PACKED.
The Starbucks in Manhattan all do very well. Think about all the locations in Manhattan. They have to have at least a few hundred locations in Manhattan alone. Only FIVE are closing, plus one inside Macy's. That's nothing IMO.

Is that the one in the same lot with Consumers on the other side?
If so I never liked that one. There was this one young woman that worked in there. She always had a "puss face" on like she hated life and hated being there. And she was there all the time too.
I always received crappy drinks from that location, but then again I haven't been there in over a year so it may have changed.
The location in the King Kullen lot always had nicer people working in there.

Re: Starbucks closings....
It kind of makes sense though...there are two in Broadway Mall, four in Westbury, there are four on that strip of Hempstead Tnpke from the Fulton Ave one to the East Meadow one. It's a little bit of overkill if you ask me...I can understand why they have to close so many stores.

Yes but they have it down to a science. I love the one closest to 7th Avenue. They have the headsets, they know my order. My drink is ready by the time I'm paying for it.

That is true. But hey have to have it that organized. If not you can be sure there would be a massive riot in there.
What do you think all those already ****** off professionals (that are probably already running late) will do if godforbid they have to wait an extra minute for their drink and miss another train.
It would get REAL ugly. I remember the last time I was in there one yuppie guy was stressin' because he wasn't getting his drink quick enough. He kept looking at his watch and bitchin' the barista out. It was hilarious because the barista was essentially laughing at him along with the rest of the customers.

Re: Starbucks closings....
I wasn't surprised the one in Research Place in Central Islip was closing because in the same shopping center there is a Target with a Starbucks in it. I keep thinking of the Lewis Black stand-up with the Starbucks across from the Starbucks.

Re: Starbucks closings....
I'm surprised about some mall Starbucks. Esp since they just opened one in the Sunrise Mall. I'm not surprised about some store fronts though. Near me there is one literally 1/2 a mile down the same main road from the other one. I guess it depends on location - shopping center vs main road, but I've often wondered why they have so many around. Way too many IMO even though I enjoy them from time-to-time. Dunkin' Donuts does a lot of drinks that are similar to SBUX for a few dollars less.

I just looked for that- I've only been in there like twice since it opened, so I guess I've contributed to it too! Southold is closing though- I've never been to that one....

that's what I was wondering because I don't see any of them on the list, but the one by me is always dead. I would think those would be the first to go, but who the heck knows!
