Starbucks to start offering 6 weeks paid family leave
Just saw this on the news. They will be giving their employees paid materinty and paternity leave as well.
I would have been better off working at Starbucks . I had NOTHING when my DD was born. I didn't even have vaca time because I had just started the job.
It's about time that companies in this country get with the program ..we are one of the worst nations in the world when it comes to our maternity leave policies.

Starbucks to start offering 6 weeks paid family leave
I've actually considered becoming a barista to get some extra money but I think it would just be spent on coffee. That's awww that they'll offer maternity leave. More companies should.

That's great news. DH's company just started offering 3 months paternity leave as well. Time off for both parents is essential.

I thought about this too. But you have to drink coffee. You do tasting and need to know a lot about all the different flavors they sell. And I hate coffe

This is amazing. Good for Starbucks. I'm very fortunate that my firm gives 12 weeks maternity and paternity leave.

Same with a friend of mine- she gets none & her dh gets 3 months. Because a woman doesn't require recovery or bonding time

Starbucks to start offering 6 weeks paid family leave
This is great. I usually go to a different coffee place in the morning, but this makes me want to start going to Starbucks.
I get 12 weeks, but it's unpaid (so it's just the standard FMLA job protection). I don't even qualify for that, because I just started my job in Sept, but when I told my boss I was pregnant she said that of course they would honor it anyway. My husband is self employed, so he gets as much time off as he wants. He will probably take a couple weeks off, and then work part time for a bit (go to court when he has cases but otherwise work from home), and then maybe take more time off when I go back to work.
