Started DD on cereals, and what am i doing wrong?
We started on Saturday with rice this time, and she has no interest in eating it. She mostly spits it out. I just tried changing the consitance of it, by making it a bit thicker and still no interest. could it be when i try giving it to her?
Now that the clocks have chaged she wakes up btwn 6-7. I giver her an 8oz bottle. Then 3 hours later i try the cereal, and then a bottle.
Should i be giving her the cereal first thing in the morning?

DD was never a cereal eater - I still try but she has no interest - she loves her fruits, some veggies and chicken though.

DS, spit it out the first couple of days also, but once he got the hang of it, really loved it. He doesn't like the rice so much, but he loves the Barley and oatmeal. He lately has been having a bottle during the night. SO around 7 he gets his cereal, seems to work for us.
GOOD LUCK. it's so hard figuring out these kids sometimes.

If she's not a fan of the rice so much and she is having no allergy issues, I would move on to oatmeal first thing with her bottle (or right after it). She may be full after an 8 oz. bottle though so maybe give her 4 oz., then oatmeal, then the other 4 oz.? Just a thought....

DD spit hers out the first couple of times too. I found if I made it very liquidy she took it better at first. I also gave it to her around 6pm or so when she was a bit hungrier right after I gave her 4-5 oz of bottle.

I did the oatmeal last week and had that rash all over her face. so peds said wait a week and then start rice. I give her ther cereal before the bottle at her second feeding. Should i feed her the cereal first feeding.
Peds doesnt want me to give at night, b/c of the rash from oatmeal.

Maybe you can add a little bit of banana to it so its more palatable to her???? Also, I found that if I waited until my daughter was really hungry, she would cry and cry and not eat her cereal cause it took too long between spoonfuls and she wanted to just chug her bottle. Now I feed her about 3oz (from a 6 oz bottle) and feed her cereal, then wait 1/2 hr and feed her the rest of her formula. Works like a charm.

Peds doesnt want me to add fruit until i make sure she has no more reactions to the cereals. I think im going to try feeding her first thing in the morning and see how that goes, if that doesnt work. Then i guess ill just call the peds and see what they suggest. I feel so lost at this stuff.
