Starting a second cereal

So, tomorrow I try oatmeal -- I have been giving Jack rice.

I think it was Fireislandlove who told me to just give him the oatmeal in the morning. How does this work now. Give him the oatmeal in the morning - and for dinner and lunch give him the rice cereal - in case he is allergic to the Oatmeal. Does that sound right?

Honestly that is what I would do for about 3 or 4 days to make sure there is no reaction. How much is he getting now?

LOL - if I knew you were online I would have just FM'd you. LOL

Right now I give him rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I just wanted to make sure that I should still be giving him the rice for lunch and dinner...and not just stop with the oatmeal at breakfast.

Haha - I would give him the Oatmeal for Breakfast, then the rice for lunch and dinner. Then after you know he is ok on oatmeal you can interchange them then start a new cereal if you want.

The way I was told to do it (I didn't start them on solid lunch until 6 mos.) was to give the "new" food at breakfast (so you could tell if there was an allergy all day) then once you knew they were ok with it, to move it to dinner and start a new food at breakfast). Once you know he's ok with it, you can interchange them for dinner, or add another food during breakfast, etc. HTH!

Ok - I'll do that Thursday - Saturday.

Uh oh - that means I have to go out and buy more rice cereal bc I only have enough for two more feedings...and I was just at Stop and Shop - oh well.

Wish I had known , I have SOOOO much , About to dinate some to the church, I will never use it and I decided to go organic. So I have the DHA gerber cereal and like 4 boxes of oatmel and rice gerber cereal. So if you need some , let me know, I will put a box or two aside for you.
