Starting Cereal..what time of day?
My doctor suggested I feed DS 1 tbsp of cereal at 5pm and then let him finish his bottle afterwards, but the past few days..he is exhausted around that time..and wants no part of the cereal. He wants his bottle and a nap. I am thinking about doing it in the morning. Can i just switch or do I need to call the doctor first...do you always do it he same time as a feeding or does anyone do it between feedings?

Re: Starting Cereal..what time of day?
I think initially, it's good to feed them when they are awake and kind of hungry, but not too hungry. It's all new, so if he's exhausted, that's probably not a great time.
We fed DS today for the first time around 11--he's pretty awake around then. But you know your child's schedule, so try it when it seems best.

I started cereal this weekend. I have given it to DD in the morning. She is the happiest at this time of day.

In the beginning I gave it in the morning and at lunch.

Re: Starting Cereal..what time of day?
I always started in the mornings. I was told it was better to try new cereals then so that if a reaction were to occur, it would not be overnight. I don't think it's necessary to call if you want to switch.

Re: Starting Cereal..what time of day?
I started in the mornings and my ped recommended I give it to him about an hour and a half after his bottle, so he wouldn't be starving when he was trying to figure out how to eat it.
