Starting on table food...
I tried giving my son the Gerber Puffs, he'll pick them up and play but will NOT eat them, he shuts his mouth and eyes tight. I tried Pastina w/ some formula, he gagged pretty bad and spit it back out. I tried a couple of times but he must not like the texture.
Anyone have any tips? Or has anyone else gone through or is going through something similar?

Re: Starting on table food...
Matthew will eat the Gerber Puffs if I feed them to him. Otherwise he too just plays with them. He'll pick them up and throw them on the floor and then smiles cuz he thinks it's for play.
I give pastina to him with meat, veggies and fruit jars. I mix it all in one bowl and he'll take it that way.
Try it with fruit...
Or it could be that maybe he just doesn't like it. Some babies just never acquire the liking for it. My nephew never did. He loves pasta but never liked pastina.

Re: Starting on table food...
I've been giving Parker little pieces of banana and peaches on her tray. I feed her one to show her that it was food and then she started doing it herself. She doesn't always get them in her mouth as she hasn't master the thumb yet. She puts it in her palm and tries to stuff it in that way. I figured I would start with flavors that were familiar to her.

That's what DS does with the Gerber Puffs and when he can't put it in his mouth he just drops them. Then he makes a game out of it. He picks them up and drops them...

That's how they learn. First they'll play with it and pretty soon they'll figure it out.

My son makes me laugh cuz when I put some on top of the tray of the walker he'll pick them up and throw them on the floor. Then he'll bend down over the tray and looks for the puffs he has just thrown on the floor...

Re: Starting on table food...
I tried Pastina 2x and he gagged really bad both times.
He loves puffs because they disolve.
I will not try Pastina again for about a month or so. He is not ready for that type of food yet. I will just keep him on baby food for know.
