Starting Solids - What was the first non-rice food you gave to your baby? Did you introduce vegetables or fruit first?
DS has been eating rice cereal for about 2 weeks now. We plan to introduce him to his first flavored food this weekend. Originally we going to give DS bananas as his first food but today I was told we should start with a vegetable or else he will always prefer sweets over vegetables.
What was the first food you gave to your baby after rice cereal?

We did the following in the following order Oatmeal bananas green beans apples peas pears sweet potatoes prunes apricots carrots peaches spinach
My ped says its a myth that they will only like fruits if you start with them...
Alexa's favorite thing to eat are green beans and then bananas.....
Have fun!

If memory serves me correctly you are BFIng right?? BM is super super sweet, so I wouldn't worry about veggies vs fruits in that respect. We went from rice cereal to oatmeal before introducing fruits/veggies. When we did start non-cereal, we did veggies: peas, carrots, sweet potato (in that order); then bananas, apples, string beans.

I skipped the rice cereal and started with oatmeal.
oatmeal carrots - DD didn't like the carrots sweet potatos - she seems to like this.
That's all we've done so far since we only just started her on solids.
I may start her on a fruit tomorrow - possibly pears.

Sweet potatoes, then peas, then apples, etc. I wanted to get her used to less sweet foods first.
She actually prefers peas over everything else.

Re: Starting Solids - What was the first non-rice food you gave to your baby? Did you introduce vegetables or fruit first?
i started a small amount of fruit in the cereal b/c DS was making nasty faces
apples banans oatmeal peaches pears
we started jars of veggies sweet pot carrots hated - green beans and peas, so i mixed them half and half with the orange veggies
DS loves bananas and mangoes, apples and apricots, and other mixes from nature's best

I introduced veggies first because they are not as tasty as fruits and I want DS to like veggies, (unlike his mommy) lol
I think after rice cereal we did peas. (which he hated) lol
