Starting to research relocating out of state...need help
So DH and I have finally started to seriously consider moving out of state.
Please share any helpful web sites, books, magazines or other tips you used when starting your moving research!
Thanks!

Virginia, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas...We're just throwing around ideas right now but we are limited to where Verizon is. Thats who my DH works for.

Well, I would start by going to
www.city-data.com and you can go to boards for each state and city. You can get alot of information there. About schools, neighborhoods, jobs, etc.
I would also go to www.newhomesource.com for communities and any developments.
Also check out realtor.com for homes in those areas and then once you find an area you like, do research on it online.
Take a couple weekend trips to those designated areas with your reserach that you've done and pretty much tour the area, speak to the people, see houses.
I would also get a realtor from each of those areas you are interested in to work for you. Let them tell you the low-down on those areas and what the good areas are.
Good luck!

Re: Starting to research relocating out of state...need help
Ok this may sound really stupid but this is what I do - I have relocated several times. Lets say you are looking to move to Virginia, I look on websites of all the stores that I use on like a regualr basis - say like, Pottery Barn, whole foods, banana republci etc. Usually all those stoers are located in fairly nice areas so it heps me narrow down the areas and also ensures that I am living withing close proximity to the conveniences that I like.
