Steakhouse rec for 10th anniversary dinner
OK-So Hubby and I usually go to Tellers, Prime, Blackstone, and 21 Main. We live in Centereach and are willing to travel 30-45 minutes for our 10th anniversary dinner. We have always wanted to try Peter Lugar's but I'm not sure if it's the place to go for a dressed up romantic dinner. Has anyone been to Rare 650 (it used to be Sagamore)? I'm leaning towards Tellers but open try (and be wowed by) something new. TIA

In Great Neck there is Morton's, Buton & Doyle which I think are really nice.

I've never been...but I hear The Chop Shop in Smithtown is excellent.

My favorite steakhouse is definately Ruth Chris for like 10 years, until last week when I finally had better steak at Del Friscos. I hated Sagamore, didn't even know they changed their name. Morton's is excellent too and pretty inside.

 Once you goto Del Friscos you are ruined forever and no other can compare.

My FAVORITE steak place is TELLERS in Islip. They have a website and the food is unbelievable. It use to be an old bank which they turned into a restaurant - very cool. My husband always go for our birthdays - it's our special place!

IMO Peter Lugers is not romantic at all, went for our anniversary one year and was very less than wowed

not sure where centereach is (sorry) but are you far from Queens?
Uncle Jack's steakhouse in Bayside is our favorite!

Pete Lugers is not anything special for an anniversary celebration. The ambiance (or lack therof) is not right.
I like Rothmans' (East Norwich), Bryant & Cooper (Roslyn). Teller's is great, but a bit of a ride for us since we are in Bayside. Uncle Jack's is good too, but that's a long ride from where you are.

I agree with this. It's worth checking out, but not for an anniversary dinner.
My DH and I were going to go there for our first anniversary not realizing what it was like, when someone recommended Prime instead and we LOVED it! We later went to Luger's out of curiosity and were so happy we made Prime our anniversary place! That's now our go-to celebration restaurant!
