Steve Jobs steps down as CEO
So sad...
Apple said on Wednesday that Steven P. Jobs, its co-founder and leading product visionary, would step down from the chief executive role. Tim Cook, the chief operating officer, will take over the position.
In a letter sent to Apple’s board of directors and “the Apple community,” Mr. Jobs said he would like to remain as chairman of the board.
“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s C.E.O., I would be the first to let you know,” Mr. Jobs wrote. “Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Re: Steve Jobs steps down as CEO
all the money in the world can't buy your health, its so upsetting that such an amazing talented person such as himself has to suffer with an illness.

All of the money in the world can't buy you time or health
He has fought for so long and at this point I'm praying for a miracle for him.
As far as Apple stock. I'm sure Wall Street will respond with a high school girl freak out and the stock will open down tomorrow.
Meanwhile, there is no need to panic. Cook has been at the helm this entire year and all of Jobs other medical leaves. The transition is seamless.
I saw this on another blog:
"Much like when a pitcher walks from the mound, the entire tech industry should stand and give a round of applause for one who has contributed so much."
He pushed the industry towards further innovation

It's so sad indeed.. What makes me mad is the newspapers with "iQuit" as the headline or saying that he lost his job.. the man has a terminal illness.. what he has done under those circumstances is amazing in itself.. I wish he and his family a miracle.. so sad. I HATE cancer

This news is so sad for him and his family. It can't be a good sign.

Agreed.
It's making light of a situation that is FAR from lighthearted.
Very disappointing to see those headlines.

Re: Steve Jobs steps down as CEO
I saw someone just tweeted "Steve Jobs' text was meant to say: 'I reign as CEO of Apple' Damn you autocorrect!"
Slightly humorous, but I find it very hard to laugh at such a tragic situation.

Well, I think that was a slightly more tactful way of making light of a sad situation.
The iQuit headline just seems more crude in a way. I can't really explain it.
