Sticky situation..
OK this is the situation...
Two of my friends at work have children. When it is the childs birthday, they always give each other gifts for each others child. Now I dont have any children so I am not a part of this usually. But yesterday one coworker gave the other a gift card for her sons birthday and now I think shes a little pissy with me that I didnt give her anything for her son. In my opinion, I dont have a child to exchange for so I think its ok that I dont give her son anything for his birthday. What do you think?

Re: Sticky situation..
IMO..depends on your relationship with the co-worker... If you are friends, good friends outside of the job...well i would buy something for the child.
If not....forget it, no need to buy a gift

Re: Sticky situation..
thats a little bizarre...why would she expect a gift from you for her son?
i would ignore it and not buy a gift.

I tend to agree with this

I agree. The only children I buy b-day gifts for are nieces and nephews and 1 VERY close friend.
If she were having a big party and invited you, then I could see it, but in this case, it seems odd to me too.

I don't know, I buy gifts for my friend's kids for birthdays & Christmas even though I don't have any. I guess it would depend on how close you are to her.

Me three. Are you supposed to buy a gift for every child of every person you know?
