Stock up on those Shu Uemura eyelash curlers!
In Makeup Cosmetics News, Loreal the makeup cosmetic giant announced on Monday March 29, 2010 that they will be closing all US operations of the famous deceased makeup artist Shu Uemura Cosmetics sales counters and operations.
Loreal took a 35% stake in Shu Uemura in 2000, going on to acquire a controlling interest in the brand.
As of recent the Shu Uemura Makeup Brand line has not generated the prospective cosmetic sales it hoped to seek within the U.S. market.
Shu Uemura’s most well known and talked about makeup product was the eye lash curler that most makeup artists carry in their makeup cases.
Posted on other makeup blogs are reasons why US citizens do not appreciate the Japanese beauty when that information is non-sense, that Shu Uemura had high color trend products that had to compete with Makeup Brands Like MAC Cosmetics, which offered lower pricing and boutiques in more suitable stores for women that love makeup of color and trends. ”
It’s just easier to purchase a $13.00 eye shadow from MAC instead of a overpriced $30 one from Shu Uemura.” say’s Raesin Images Cosmetics spokesperson and owner Rae Kat Switzer. ” I’m a MAC PRO artist as well as a Licensed Free Lance Makeup Artist and get a 40% discount on all MAC Pro Products. If Loreal would have offered makeup artists like myself and incentive program such as MAC has, maybe they wouldn’t be pulling out of the U.S. The Loreal Company has alot of pans in the fire, it’s not uncommon to see failure of one or two, as we did several makeup brands owed at one time by the Estee Lauder Corporation.”

A spokesperson for L'Oreal confirmed to CosmeticsDesign.com USA that the announcement relates only to Shu Uemura cosmetics in the US and does not affect Shu Uemura Art of Hair, which continues to be sold in select salons in the US.

i'm obsessed with the eyelash curler! Been using it for years and not a day goes by that I don't curl my eyelashes..thanks for posting!

I agree with what he says-its true.
I am a licensed makeup artist also-and get 40% at MAC-if others offered the same, they wouldnt really go out of biz so fast.

There was a write up in WWD and they stated you could still order their products online.
