Stomach bug phobia - vent
DS is a little over 3 years old has been lucky enough to NEVER have suffered through a stomach bug of any kind. We escaped it last year when DH got it. This year DS started preschool and I know its inevitable that we will have our first encounter with a stomach virus of some kind. I dont know why but I am literally phobic about DS getting sick like that... I'm not grossed out by it or anything like that but when I think about him getting that sick, my stomach gets such butterflies and I feel so panicky. I want to quit school and lock us in the house. It is truly a fear for me. When DH got it last year it was SO violent that I was sitting in the living room shaking. I know... I sound insane but everyone is talking about it and its making me go crazy all over again. Thanks for "listening".

No, I know that feeling and Ava's had countless stomach bugs. I fear them like you wouldn't believe. However, I will say this, the fear of her getting is far worse than her actually getting it. Once she gets it and we're living it, we just do it and it passes and we move on. Last year it was going through the house, me, Ava and Jt for a month straight. We kept giving it to each other and I was pregnant, and we survived to tell the tale And I remember thinking afterwards that it was odd that while we were going through it, I just toughed it out and didn't think twice about it. It WILL happen, but just know that the fear of getting it is worse than it actually happening.

Its ok to feel that way. Noah NEVER threw up till last winter...and b/c of that he had no idea "how" and was very scared , and I was terrified, Now..I'm so glad We got it over with so to speak and now that both the twins have had stomach viruses, I'm almost glad b/c I know we can all handle it.
You'd be surprised what you can ahndle when it happens.

Awwww it's really not as bad as you fear. I had both my boys have it at the same time (of course) twice. One time was after their 6 month picture (thanks for that Picture People) and one when they were just over a year. Honestly, it was worst on DH and I then the kids. They would just projectile vomit all over the place and continue to do there thing. DH and I were overwhelmed with the cleaning of it all up and worrying about them. They both went to bed at night no problem, continued with their daily activities and were never really too affected by it.
One of my sons just had a minor bug and he was taking pride in the fact he threw up to his brother.
Just make sure they are not dehydrated and fever is minimal. I actually have been a lot scared of my sons croup and other colds they have had then stomach bugs.

Thanks ladies! I just keep thinking about the "plan of action" when it happens but I'm sure my mommy instinct will take over. DH works nights, so my fear is that it will start at night and I will be all alone to deal with it too.

I dread it also - my girls have both had it a few times each - sometimes at the same time and once all 4 of us at the same time! I try to think of it as a part of life - its inevitable and i try my best to use lysol daily on their toys and kept the house clean of any germs, but there is only so much I can do. As we speak my youngest has a fever. As soon as she is better - my only plan is getting the house rid of any germs so it won't come back.

its not pleasant, all you can do is hold him and let him get it out.
Then you get it yourself and spend every 15 min from 12:30am - 12:30pm running to the bathroom while he laughs at you..
