Stomach Pains
I have a question and just want to see if this is normal. Every so often I get like a heaviness in my stomach. It gets worse when I lay down to go to sleep. Last night, it was so bad, that it woke me out of a dead sleep. I was so nervous that something was wrong. I am almost 7 weeks. Also (sorry TMI), but I am have a hard time going to the bathroom. Before I was pregnant, I would go no more than once a week...maybe even longer. So maybe that is it? Has anyone experienced this heaviness before---especially when lying down? Thanks!

Re: Stomach Pains
Is it caused by your prenatals? Maybe it's your intestines saying to take a laxative (no laxatives while pregnant though)? Try some fiber

Re: Stomach Pains
I have been taking prenatals since December. But this is only my 2nd month on the new prenatals that my doc prescribed. So maybe that is it. I am trying to up my fiber--but I feel that that may be causing more of a "blockage" than anything.
I know that people said they have taken Colace. Where can I find it? I looked in Target and at the supermarket and can't find it. Thanks!

Re: Stomach Pains
I had the same thing happen too with my first pregnancy. Between the hormones and the prenatals I was dying. They just changes my prenatal perscription and I was fine then. I'll have t go back in my baby book and check the name of the prenatals I was on back then. I was one another kind for my second pregnancy so I can't remember the name.

Re: Stomach Pains
I had the same problem in the beginning. The pain gpt so bad I was really nervous, but the doctor said because your intestines are pushing up it is a smaller area they sit in and that can sometimes cause pain. I also (TMI) had the pain if I went to the bathroom. I was barely ever going and finally my doc said to start taking some fiber or occasionally a stool softener would be ok. I started taking FIBER CHOICE with CALCIUM. It looks like TUMS, but a little bigger tablet that you chew and you can take 2 a day. Since I have been taking them I am "regular" again (they taste like candy too!) It has more fiber and calcium in it then most of the OTC fiber supplements. You can buy it anywhere, I got it in CVS.

Re: Stomach Pains
I had horrendous stomach issues in the begining. My prenatal pill is "supposed" to have a stool softener in it, but I don't think it works for me- but you may want to give it a try. It's called Prenatal Elite. For more immediate relief, try eating a fiber breakfast cereal, drink some prune juice and take colace. Your Dr. may tell you to take colace daily if it's really bad.

Re: Stomach Pains
What strength of Colace are you supposed to take. I saw on a website that they come in 50 mg and 100 mg. Thanks!

Re: Stomach Pains
. CVS, Rite Aid etc sells Colace.
I had to take it daily when PG. And Even now I still use it
YOu really cant go that long, you dont want to risk an infection blocking up.
I would get the colace ASAP and if it doesnt work within 24 hours, call your Dr , there is prescription strength stuff you can take which has no affect on the baby.
Its dangerous to go so long, not to mention the pain you will be in once you do and you dont want to develop hemmoroids this early in a PG.

Ask the pharmacist to point out the CVS brand colace- it's a lot cheaper.
