Stomach virus- a question about whether this is normal....
Mads has her first stomach bug. I know- how we avoided this for almost 3 years is beyond me.....
Anyway, on Thursday night she was unable to keep anything down until about 3am on Friday. She went to sleep at 6am Friday morning and slept til about 10. Had nothing but Pedialyte and some crackers all day on friday. She was FINE yesterday- full of beans and running around. Begging to eat all her favorite foods.
Today she started the day "OK" but progressively has gone downhill. At 7am, I let her eat a regular breakfast, but she barely ate. I let her drink her soymilk which she threw up (10am). For the rest of the day she wanted nothing to eat but drank alot of water and some Pedialyte. She threw up again at 3.
She ate some crackers for dinner and drank some Pedialyte (just a little) and has been acting really quiet and almost lethargic. She actually asked to go to bed at 5:30. I'm expecting that she'll puke again at some point.
My question is: is it normal for them to be "fine" after a stomach bug but get worse again? Is this the same bug or do you think she's caught something else? She's not violently throwing up every few minutes like she was on Thursday night, but it's obvious she's not well.
My husband has been down with this since yesterday. I'm praying that Eliza and especially I don't get it.

It sounds like it is either the same bug running its course or she and your DH are passing it back and forth. Either way, keep an eye on her behavior come tomorrow morning and if she is still acting lethargic, I'd call your ped or after-hours care. I remember having a stomach virus as a kid that got me so dehydrated that after a week of drinking a lot of water I still wasn't myself and wound up needing IV fluids.
I hope you can avoid catching it and that she feels better soon!!

Re: Stomach virus- a question about whether this is normal....
My DD had this weird virus a few weeks ago. She threw up a couple of times but that was it. She had diarrhea too. She was so not herself for awhole week. I took her to the doctors twice they just said it was a stomach bug. She was drinking some fluids, which I though meant she was fine.
I finally took her to PM Pediatrics where they tested her blood and she ended up being dehydrated. They gave her fluids right then and there and half way through the IV bag she was almost back to normal and made a full recovery.
So...point of my story is that if she is a little lethargic and not being herself... I would bring her to the PM Pediatrics or some place wehre they can see if she is dehyrated.
I hope she is feelign better real soon

I think sheprobably over did it yesterday and wasn't completely better. I know when it was here, it would rear its ugly head again at some points
