stomach virus question

the baby threw up this am - pretty much everything I gave her. How do I know if it is a stomach virus or just a one time thing - should i just feed her again and see what happens?

Re: stomach virus question

First, check her temp. If it's a virus, they usually have a temp. and they usually can't hold anything down in their system OR they have diahrea OR they have both vomiting and diarhea. I hope she has none of the above!

Re: stomach virus question

I would check her temp. but when Michael had this stomach virus, he did not have a temp. at all - just really mushy diapers for over a week! I hope she feels better soon! I'd try to feed her again - I was told when Michael had this to continue feeding him - they don't really realize they dont' feel good.

We had a trip to the ER because of it!
He threw up Friday night and Saturday morning. Then had a fever Sat and sunday, slept alot and had diarrhea from Sunday to Friday. We took him to the ER on Sunday night because he refused to drink anything.

Re: stomach virus question

They don't need to have a fever to have a virus, but rotavirus is going around big time. Pedialyte is important. Keep her hydrated.
As long as she is wetting her dipaers and not having vomitting AND diareah, she should be ok.
If she keeps vomitting, call the doctor, but feed her again. The dr. may recommend half formula and half pedialyte.
There is no meds for rotavirus (diareah & vomit.). It has to run it's course, pardon the pun Chat Icon
