Stop & Shop in Lake Grove!!!!
Has seriously got to be the worst one out there!!!!!
I could carry on and list my complaints but I will not....today, aside from a few others, it's that they are selling fish that is past it's sell by date..it's all brown and slimy. (this is not the first time nor the second time I have noticed this and complained to management)..
On our way out there is a table that says "TELL US HOW WE ARE DOING" on it..DH read through the notebook and it was full, I mean FULL, of complaints about this store...You would think that they would do something about it..
Vent Over..anyone else????

Honestly I would call and get the number for their district manager, that's what I did with the one in Lake Ronkonkoma. I found eggs being sold WEEKS after their expiration date, and when I told the assistant manager he blew me off so I got the district manager's number. Their is also a district or regional manager for me that I met once when he happened to be in the store, he is based in Boston I believe you can try and get his number also.
Strange thing about that store, I found it more expensive than the Lake Ronkonkoma Stop and Shop. No sure how that works.
But I would call

I used to shop there all the time when I lived out there a few years ago.
I never really had a problem.
After seeing your post, I don't think I'd be shopping there anymore though.

ETA: I used to shop in Stop & Shop by me now, until they opened IGA.
IGA is not all over the place, just a few locations on LI and I LOVE it.

That store does stink, When dh and I use to live in lake grove and went shopping there they never had there shelves stocked.They are slow in service over there too, I love the Stop and Shop in Millerplace,Much,Much, Better service there and it's CLEAN. If you dont mind the trip check it out.

i am shocked too... i go to the one in levittown often, as well as the one in amityville, and they are both usually extremely well run and spotless.

Im definitely going to call/email "the powers that be"...
It's the most convenient supermarket for me..and I generally LOVE Stop & Shop...but his store is horrible!!!! I do most of my shopping at Shoprite in Hauppauge which is a little out of the way..

My parents live in Lake Grove and I remember my mom saying that that paticular S&S went downhill years ago and she refuses to go there. I think they now go to the one in Stony Brook (I think that's the town it's in) across from Home Depot and Target.

I go to the one in Ronkonkoma, in fact just got back and it is by far the best around here. I never go to the Lake Grove one anymore because of all the complaints. I remember a few times refrigerated things were bad when I got home. That is the only one that is not a Super Stop and Shop. I wonder why. A few days ago I needed milk and drove by it and went elsewhere, for the reasons everyone said.

Last month I went there and an actual fistfight broke out between one of the cashiers and a customer (the middle-aged woman with long brown hair). She was screaming at the customer and the customer went behind to her area to punch her, and the cashier was also throwing punches and screaming at the customer!
They have the slowest service EVER in addition to expired products, and no self check-outs. The one in S. Setauket across from Target is worth the slightly longer trip.

ITA! I don't go to that Stop and Shop even though it is the closest because it grosses me out.
Sometimes I go to Waldbaums in Stony Brook or Stop and Shop in E. Setauket or Lake Ronkonkoma depending on what other errands I am running. Those other two Stop and SHops are much better and nicer!

The Stop and Shop near me (Medford) isn't too bad, but could be better. It's still better than Pathmark or King Kullen. The S&S's in Farmingville and Holbrook seem to be better.
Also, all of Peapod's warehouses on Long Island are inside Stop and Shops, just so you know. They have three warehouses in the New Hyde Park, South Setauket and Medford stores.

I can't believe there was a fist fight. Even though I have not been there in a while, I think I know the cashier you mean. I have a feeling it isn't going to last there much longer.
