Re: Stop Signs
It depends on things like the time of day, whether it's light or dark, whether I am familiar with the area. When I lived in Queens there was a sign near my apt. and I got to a point where I pretty much slowed down and that was it. And there were others where I always came to a full stop and was very careful before proceeding. Now I leave for work at 6 am and there's one stop sign that I also pretty much roll through but later in the day I stop.

Re: Stop Signs
It depends on where. If it's a busy intersection, I come to a complete stop. If it's some place I know is rarely busy, I stop and look quickly and go.

Re: Stop Signs
Your supposed to stop at them all, when I was younger, my brother used to tell me stop signs with the white border were optional, took me a while to realize they all had a white border.

My DH had one of his friends convinced (when they were younger) that is was opinion. They didn't realize how much the kid believed it, until one day there were out in the car with this kid driving and he was blowing stop signs.

Re: Stop Signs
I always do because the drivers in my town are nuts - esp in the summer with all the added beach traffic!

Re: Stop Signs
I fully stop. I got pulled over one time b/c I didn't fully stop and the police officer made me feel so guilty I never did it again. I don't think those 2 seconds would be worth a child's life if I ever hit one, G-d forbid!

Re: Stop Signs
Well, this is the part that I do NOT understand. There is a stop sign outside my house. I understand when it is LATE at night or early morning, not stopping. But when it is the middle of the afternoon. The stop sign is also a bus stop and sometimes when I hear the buses stop I cringe, cause I know the people around here NEVER stop. It is unreal.
I stop at all stop signs, no matter of the time. I have a personal reason for this - someone very close to me was killed walking across a street at a stop sign and someone drove through the sign and it her. And I could never imagine doing this to anyone - and it baffles me when I see people going throught them.
ETA - I did not want to attack anyone for this - it was the children part of the post I was talking about - people around me do not care when someone is in the road. We actually have to call the police quite often so that it is better when the school buses are picking up children and dropping them off.

Re: Stop Signs
I agree with you, people should remember the consequences when going through stop signs.
I am very sorry for your loss.
