Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
I was told by the doc today to stop the Crinone i've been taking, as my progesterone levels are high, but for some reason I am so afraid to! Anyone else go through this?
ETA: Update below and a question, any advice appreciated!

Re: Stopping Progesterone
You can wean yourself off of it. My RE has me doing it every other day for a week and then I can stop. You can do that or do the half the dose everyday for a week.
Your body is making its own progesterone now, so you don't need it- that's a good thing!!

Re: Stopping Progesterone
my RE wanted to wean me off of it but I started to do it on my own before they had a chance as it was making me sick so I stopped it. Probably shouldn't have but I did.

Re: Stopping Progesterone
Just an update: the doc office ended up calling me yesterday and told me to take the crinone every other day and stop in a week. Do you think however that stopping at 8 weeks could be bad? I'm just worried as I know most people stop around 12 weeks...

Re: Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
I am in the weaning process as well. I go for more blood today so they can let me know how much further I can go down...
Good luck!

Re: Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
Thanks- I will not be going back to the RE so i'm not sure what my blood levels will be like... but now I'm REALLY confused because I called today w/ concerns that I may be stopping too early, and a nurse called me back and told me that if i'm comfortable I can still take it every day or every other day, and then ask my OB GYN when to stop. So now I don't know if I should take it every other day or every day until I see the OB GYN.. Argh

Re: Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
My RE told me I could stop at 10 weeks. My initial miscarriage was due to low progesterone so I asked how long I could stay on it just for piece of mind. I went a little crazy and stayed on until 13 weeks, with an OK from my OB. I totally understand, I think I wrote the same post 30 weeks ago :)

Re: Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
I stopped at 8 weeks with my DS, the RE just had me stop cold turkey. He assured me that I was making my own progesterone at that point, and I had no problems from stopping.

Re: Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
The last time and this time I will stop at 9 weeks. They wouldn't tell you to stop if your numbers were not very good. I'm sure you'd be fine with stopping in the 8th week, but go to 9 weeks if it makes you feel better.

Re: Stopping Progesterone (Update w/ Q)
Keep in mind that some people stop progesterone later b/c they had a Lupron trigger for IVF. Basically, the Lupron destroys your corpus luteum, so your body isn't producing it's own progesterone until the placenta takes over at 10 weeks. Even so, I was so nervous to stop my suppositories, PIO and estrogen patches at 11 weeks...but all was fine.
