Stopping the spread by getting "vaccinated"

Forgive me, I haven't read many posts on here lately so I apologize if it's been beat to death.

This is part of Hochul's latest FB post:

"To the more than 80% of adult New Yorkers who have done the right thing to get fully vaccinated: Thank you. Let’s get more New Yorkers vaccinated so we can put this pandemic in the rear view mirror."

OK. Please humor me. I feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone. I am currently fully vaccinated and I also currently have COVID. I keep reading comments from politicians and people that the only way we will stop the spread of Covid is to get vaccinated. I literally know about 10 people with Covid right now and large majority of them are vaccinated. YES, my symptoms could be much worse but it is clearly NOT stopping the spread. So how on Earth is more vaccinating going to stop this thing? What am I missing?? The way I see it, the only person I protected from dying from the virus is myself since I can clearly still spread it even with a vaccine (which I wish they would stop calling it). Help it make sense!

Re: Stopping the spread by getting "vaccinated"

You ask the same questions thousands of people with common sense are asking.
Unfortunately nobody can answer it.
They want 100% compliance for some reason. Perhaps to make them feel their power is absolute and their subjects are good little soldiers. It seems to make them uncomfortable when people don't listen to them.

In addition, 80% vaccination rate SHOULD lead to herd immunity I would think. I've never heard of 100%vaccination being what is needed to end a disease.
But that is because, like you said, this vaccine only
protects YOU from getting very sick.
We also have a friend who is triple vaxed and has Covid now and he's VERY sick...not hospitalized yet, but it's touch and go.

Perhaps they need to focus more on why the vaccine isnt doing more rather than doubling down and shoving it down everyone's throat.

It’s all power and control. They want people 100% vaccinated, which I have no clue how that could be when not everyone wants the booster and the vaccine doesn’t last a lifetime.
None of this makes sense. They can’t prove that the vaccine will make one person less sick then they would have been without it. There is absolutely no one to tell that. They say that so people run for it.

Re: Stopping the spread by getting "vaccinated"

This is exactly how I feel! People have to stop going along with this insanity and start speaking up. The news media needs to start highlighting exactly what you are saying! The narrative has to change. It’s almost like people are brainwashed at this point I don’t understand it at all.

I actually think the high vaccination rates are one of the main reasons the cases are so high. People buy into the narrative and they are living like they are immune when they are not instead of being aware they can get and spread covid almost just the same now. What I see in my real life every day is mind boggling. People going to big events, maskless, socialising etc with a sore throat because they are fully vaccinated with the booster even and thinking they can’t possibly have covid only to wake up the next morning with full blown symptoms and testing positve. Then they turn around and say “but I am fully vaccinated” as if it’s some rare fluke but in light of what’s really going on (not what Biden and hochul want people to believe) it’s just stupidity at this point. Every day I hear someone else I know fully vaccinated with symptomatic covid and they all caught it from another vaccinated person. Teens and adults alike. I don’t say anything except on here but like you, I truly feel like I am in the twilight zone.

I’m also not even believing any more that 6 months out the shot guarantees you will not get as sick. In real life I am seeing whether vaccinated or not it seems to be pretty random how sick you get. I have seen vaccinated totally healthy friends more sick and take longer to recover then unvaccinated. But this is all in the 40’s age group without underlying issues so who knows. I don’t know what to believe anymore honestly! But one thing I know for sure is that if we keep going along like this, fighting the pandemic with a vaccine that doesn’t work and shoving the lies down people’s throats - we will never get past this. I hope people respond to hochuls post you refer to , in mass, with “this makes no sense! I am fully vaccinated and have covid, I got and can spread it”.

Exactly. The information we are being given daily is one sided. If one news station reported this then maybe people would think twice or maybe just think for themselves. Aggressively pushing this vaccine is demonic. A untested vaccine that we do not know what it can do down the road is for their own evil agenda. We need to learn to live with covid. It is not a illness that we can irradiate with a shot. Cruise ships have gone out with fully vaccinate passengers and crew and have had Covid cases. There have been reports of healthy athletics dying go a "medical condition" whats up with that?? 2 weeks too stop the spread we are going on 2 years....Enough!

Its not. I also am fully vaccinated (no booster) and had covid in October. I had mild symptoms thankfully. I have no idea if its the vaccine that lessened the symptoms or or if its just that the virus keeps mutating and now its more mild? Who even knows anymore. I do agree that otbdoesnt necessarily stop the spread...

I found the post and most people are saying it makes no sense thankfully as it doesn’t (it’s on the same post as the new mandate).

A place that requires people to be fully vaccinated can have spread… and it’s more likely for spread to happen at a place like a catering hall with fully vaccinated people unmasked than at a supermarket with some people unmasked.

Re: Stopping the spread by getting "vaccinated"

I absolutely agree with you. I wish they would consider what they are saying before opening their mouths and spewing absolute nonsense.

All I know is as of this Monday, we have to put a sign up that people need to wear masks to enter our business. And I KNOW this is going to piss off those who believe because they are vaccinated, they don’t have to. We currently have a sign up that says “masks are optional but recommended”. Those who come in without them always say “well I’m fully vaccinated” and there I am, fully vaccinated and covid recovered thinking IT DOESN’T MATTER , you can still spread it!!!! instead I say so am I but with coming into contact with so many people a day, I prefer to wear my mask and stay distanced for my own safety.

I don’t understand where this logic is coming from. You’re not stopping the spread by getting vaccinated. You’re protecting yourself (hopefully) from dying. That’s it.

Thank you everyone. At least I know I’m not crazy. I just can’t fathom that this is happening and seeing these social media posts of people acting as though they are super heroes for getting the vaccine is just mind blowing. And the new ones posting their kids getting the shot. Ughhhh I can’t do this anymore! Do what you feel is right but leave my kids alone! I just want to wake up from this insane nightmare. Anyway, thank you for the responses, at least I’m not alone.

OP, feel better soon. I live in NYC and right now I’m pregnant (and not Vaxed but had Covid last year)…I stay home to keep myself and my baby safe but by spring, I would like to go out. I can’t even eat anywhere. Will my child be able to socialize or will there be rules for babies by then? I take the virus very seriously because I had a severe, protracted case…but I honestly don’t feel the vaccine is the answer. I don’t want to take it. It’s a sad time in the world. My husband has it and is awaiting his booster soon. His brain fog has been horrible since he took it and he’s healthy, age 40. I don’t know what the answer is….

No one knows anything, not even these scientists. Its all an experiment and they are learning as they go. Thats why i don't like this whole vaccine situation for kids. Any scientist can not for a fact tell me that when my youngest is 20, she will not have side effects from this.

But that is because, like you said, this vaccine only

It’s 80% of people over 18 are vaccinated so it’s nowhere near 80% of the population. And many vaccines require over 90% of the population to be vaccinated to be effective. Measles requires 95% to be vaccinated to effectively prevent the spread.

I am actually against vaccine mandates but I do think it’s important for people to get vaccinated as to not overwhelm the healthcare system as it does reduce disease severity.

Stopping the spread by getting

The shot does not stop the spread. It does not stop the person who got the shot from getting Covid. The only thing it may do, is lessen the severity of the symptoms but that can not even be proved yet because there has not been enough data to support that as a fact. Mandating this shot to anyone is ridiculous. If a person would like the shot then they should and if they do not, they they shouldn't. You are not protecting anyone from receiving this shot and people should be allowed to monitor their own personal health.

Haven’t heard of any in the news which they live for things like this.

Once again Covid is a virus just like every other viruses can and will go from person to person. Stay home if you are sick and get tested. We need to move on from there.

I meant 100’s and 1000’s but again it is a virus and people will spread viruses. Wonder if someone was sick and decided not to get tested and knew they should have stayed home.
Anyone I know right now that has had Covid recently, vaccinated or not, had very mild cases, more like a cold, but knew to get tested.

I hope people respond to hochuls post you refer to , in mass, with “this makes no sense! I am fully vaccinated and have covid, I got and can spread it”.

But still then, there are no super spreaders happening at sporting events or parties or bars, etc.

I know of a couple of events that had a decent sized spread. One was when my friend went to an outing in October and 15 people ended up with Covid after.

My friends entire extended family got Covid at their family’s Thanksgiving dinner.

I should regale you with the tale of how someone knowingly came to our Christmas gathering years ago with a stomach bug and infected everyone including 2 infants, (one of which was my daughter), a pregnant woman and everyone else in between. One person was actually hospitalized.
Truth is, people have been inconsiderate with their illness long before covid. And the holidays fall in sickness season.

Re: Stopping the spread by getting "vaccinated"

The interesting thing also is that the majority of people that have gotten covid have not manifested severe symptoms, they have been mild, minimal, or none...and this is without the vaccine. Forget about risk of death being so low for the vast majority of people including children.

I’d say it’s 50/50. 4 vaccinated people I know had what they would describe as a bad case of the flu for 4-5 days. They couldn’t get out of bed. Others I know have been asymptomatic or just had a cough.

I don’t think anyone knew they were sick. My friend is pregnant so I would hope her sisters would be cautious around her since she’s high risk. He actually got an antibody infusion as a precaution.

I mean my son has Covid and gave it to his friend. On Friday afternoon he seemed fine and was playing video games with him. After dinner, my son looked sick. We got him tested the next day and he was positive.

Exactly so this is nothing new, it just has a new name, Covid.

Haven’t heard of any in the news which they live for things like this.

Once again Covid is a virus just like every other viruses can and will go from person to person. Stay home if you are sick and get tested. We need to move on from there.

Prob because the majority of people getting it at these events are vaccinated so it doesn’t fit their narrative.

OMG - you too? We had the great stomach virus debacle of 2018. More than half of my extended family came down with it and it ruined Christmas break.
