Stopping work early? WWYD

I originally planned on working up until the day I go into labor. We are scheduling an induction at 39 weeks so I only have about a month to go.
But lately I'm SOOOO swollen. It really isnt going down at night when I get home and prop my feet up. I sleep with 2 pillows under my feet and the swelling goes down a tiny bit, but after an hour of being at work, they're back up to being balloons (along with my ankles and lower legs). My hands are the same way. I sit at a desk all day long. I have a copy paper box under my desk to elevate my feet but it's doing nothing to help. I can't get up and take walks to increase my circulation because I work in customer service and I need to be at my desk to answer the phone lines.

DH mentioned to me that maybe I stop working a little early (like in 2 week when I'm 37 weeks) because it seems like being stuck in one position at my desk all day is making the swelling worse. Financially, it would be an imposition, but not impossible. Physically, I feel okay most of the time but I agree, the swelling seems to be getting out of hand lately. My ankles and feet are so swollen that they actually HURT.

Just out of curiosity, WWYD? Would you just suck it up and continue to work through it, or stop working early? In my head what I'm struggling with is that I'm not sure if this is a good enough reason to stop working yet. Then again, I'm borderline Pre-eclampsic and the swelling seems to be worsening, so maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that this is fine and normal?? IDK.

I had severe swelling with my first to the point that no shoes fit (had to buy black sneakers a whole size bigger just to have something to wear) and it was painful to walk. I ended up being taken out of work 1 month early and put on bed rest for BP issues and then induced at 38 weeks. I elevated my feet at night and the swelling went down a bit, but came back as soon as I was on my feet. I also had my feet elevated at my desk and wore wrist braces at night. Towards the end, several of my fingertips were numb 24/7. It was miserable. If you're really uncomfortable, I'd talk to your doctor about stopping early. Take it day by day. Hope you get some relief soon!

The only thing that gave me some relief when I was on my feet was medical compression stockings. They were so tight that I broke out in a sweat trying to get them on, but they improved my circulation and controlled some of the swelling.

Are you returning to work after birth? If not, I would totally leave now.

If leaving now would cut into your leave, however, I'd try to tough it out!

I am having the same issues with swelling. My Dr told me elevating your feet on a paper box isn't going to do the trick. Your feet need to be elevated above your heart. I honestly am in so much pain and my one Dr said they won't write me out but next week I am seeing a diff Dr at the practice and will definitely be asking. I can only fit into a pair of flip flops and my legs have begun to swell as well. If you can afford it I would definitely request to go out early.

I just stopped today at 37+2 and I'm not even swelling. I was just sore. My leave is also unpaid, but thankfully this won't affect the length of my leave

Can you still take the same time you planned on taking after baby is born? If so, I would stop early.

If it won't effect the length of time you have off post baby I'd do it.

I was super swollen at the end of my second pregnancy, but I was able to work from home when I needed to. I was only going into work 2-3 days a week at the end (I went into labor 15 days early, though). My OB didn't say the swelling was an issue, though, and she knew how severe it was.
