Storage rack recall.
Children's storage racks recalled after baby's death Fri, Nov 16, 2007 (BabyCenter News) — Jetmax International has announced a recall of about 36,000 children's wooden storage racks, sold at Wal-Mart and Ollie's stores, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The storage rack can tip over, trapping or suffocating a child. CPSC has received one report of death involving an 8-month-old boy who pulled on the rack, which tipped over. The top rail landed on his neck and suffocated him.
The storage rack is wooden and has three levels, with three removable canvas totes per level. The racks come in two color schemes: boys' and girls'. The boys' rack is a natural wood color with red, yellow, green, and navy canvas totes. The girls' rack has white-colored wood with pastel-colored totes in pink, yellow, green, and purple.
The racks were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from August 2004 through July 2005 under the brand "Home Trend Kids / 9 Canvas Bin / Boys' and Girls' Organizers." More recently, they were sold at Ollie's stores nationwide from July 2006 through June 2007. The racks cost about $40 and were made in China.
What you can do:
