Storm Doors??
I am thinking of putting a storm door in and was wondering if anyone had an idea of what it might cost. We have a standard front door- I looked on the Home Depot website but couldn't find much...and I would like some sort of idea before I decide what to do... TIA
Also, would I have to have it installed by someone or is it easy enough to do myself? (well-dh!)

Re: Storm Doors??
We just ordered a new front door and storm door through Home Depot. I am not sure how much it costs, but the installation costs more than the door. How crazy is that? Our doorway is irregular in shape which is why DH is not doing it. If you can do it yourself you will save a lot of money.

if you don't mind, how much was the installation?
At Lowes I think I saw doors for about 200.00- does that seem right...

That price seems right, storm doors are not that bad. The installation is costing around 350 I *think*. I know that it is always more than the door costs. If you go to the store it says it on the price list next to the cost of the door. Wish I was more help!

No, thank you so much! I wanted to have an idea before I drove all the way there to realize what it costs. We are having a driveway put in and brickwork/blocks done so most of our "extra" cash is going to that and I wanted to know what to expect... thanks so much!

Re: Storm Doors??
I was just in Lowe's and the door I was looking at (Pella, plain full glass window) was $248 in a variety of colors. The display said it was so easy to install, you could do it in one hour. Not sure how true that is but that's what it said.
There were also less expensive and more expensive doors there.

do it yourself would be great- since I dont mind spending the money on the door, but when installation is more than the actual product (and it is easy enough to do yourself) than I get
anyway, thanks! I think DH and I are going to head over to Lowes or Home depot this weekend

Re: Storm Doors??
we bought a pella door from lowe's and i think with installation it came out to $300-400. i can't remember exactly how much, but the install was as much if not more than the door. this one is similar to the one we got with the self-storing screen. it took the installer a long time to put it in because of the way the original door was installed. my dh could never have done it himself, but then again he's not exactly very handy!

Re: Storm Doors??
Thanks! we are going to head over there this weekend- there is not storm door there now, so it would be a brand new installation and DH is handy but I don't want a crooked door so depending on the price we will just get it installed!
thanks so much!
