Strange behaviour from a 18 month old
My 2 year old nephew has a little friend who is 18months old. The kid drools and when i say drools, i mean myy SIL has to put away all the stuffed animals when he comes over and he leaves puddles of drool on the floor and rugs.
He has screaming fits for no apparent reason, in the middle of playing, after eating, you can be holding him. nothing helps. Hes very very active and seems on par with other 18 month olds in terms of language skills and motor skills.
any ideas or input. their pediatrician has no answers for them.

Maybe he's teething and gets these moments where all of a sudden he feels some pain in his mouth.

Re: Strange behaviour from a 18 month old
DH's nephew had a drooling problem and he needed occupational therapy to help with it. He still has speech and ENT issues. I'm not sure what the exact problem/reason for it was though. I didn't want to pry too much with SIL. It sounds weird to me that the dr. cannot give any insight. Maybe they need to get another opinion?

Re: Strange behaviour from a 18 month old
He should definitely be evaluated by a speech pathologist. Excessive drooling is not normal at 18 months. It could be an oral motor problem where he needs to improve the strength or tone of his oral musculature. I've also seen drooling issues in kids with enlarged tonsils/adenoids. There can be many reasons for the screaming fits. Maybe it's a sensory issue? An OT could help with that. I'd recommend getting evaluated by EI. And finding a new ped! If he doesn't have any answers he should at least be referring them to someone who can help them figure it out.
