Strange question about Christmas lights and lead exposure

I bought some new lights to hang in our window since our old one's weren't working. There's a warning on the box that touching the wires exposes you to lead which can lead to birth defects. This as I had the wire in my hands. It says to wash hands right after handling, which I did. I haven't hung them up yet, but I spend the whole day Sunday putting up holiday decorations... did I expose myself to lead and can this be harmful to the baby?

Ohhh...that's a scary, random statement. On my blow up bed the blowy thing says handling may cause birth defects, but luckily I read that awhile ago and make DH touch it if we need to! I would def call the Dr. and see what he/she thinks. I guess its too late now. I would just scrub my hands with hot hot water!

Re: Strange question about Christmas lights and lead exposure

That warning is on pretty much anything with a cord and a light (i.e. the villages, the plastic santas, etc). I always use gloves when I'm putting up lights, even when I wasn't pregnant. I cringe when I see the baby xmas light pics only because I know how often babies put their fingers in their mouths.

You're fine. Never heard of it though as a concern. I put up lights with my first pregnancy and this one, no harm done. good you are looking out for these things, but don't let it make you crazy. Exposure to things on a daily basis is what does it.
