Strange rapid weight gain all of a sudden
I am very confused and upset because I have been gaining weight at a rate which makes no sense to me. Here are the facts:
I gave birth 6 months ago and a week after I had lost all of my baby weight except 8lbs ( then 127). About a month later I started taking medication for PPD. Two months PP I noticed I gained an additional 3 lbs (then 130)while all along eating healthy and exercising and doing all of the right things. I was chatting online with several women who had weight gain as a side effect of Zoloft. I stopped taking it 4 months PP. Now, I am at 6 months PP (no medication) weighed myself Tuesday up 3 lbs (then 133). I weighed myself today, up 2 MORE LBS! (now 135) I don't get it?!!!
I'm 99.99% sure I am NOT PREGNANT. Even when I was pregnant I didn't gain weight like this.
I have always kept a food journal and especially do now since I am not able to workout like I used to.
I thought maybe it was my scale but it works for DH. What gives? I am very frustrated. I made an appointment with my primary for a full physical and blood workup.
Any insight?

Re: Strange rapid weight gain all of a sudden
it takes a while for the SSRIs to leave your system. My doc told me about 6 months.

I know that those kind of meds take a while to fully flush, but have you had your thyroid (sp?) checked recently?

Re: Strange rapid weight gain all of a sudden
I think you're freaking yourself out. The two pounds during this week could be water weight, eating a high sodium meal the day before, PMS, etc. I weigh myself every day and vary as much as 5 lbs due to the time of the month or even time of the day.
It's not really rapid weight gain--it sounds like basically 6 pounds over 6 months. A lb. a month is easy to gain by eating a little more if you were depressed or getting less sleep with the baby, or working out less than before the baby. If you're eating the same and not working out, that could account for the 6 lbs.
It doesn't really sound like anything to be worried about like a thyroid condition or diabetes, etc., but you could mention it to your doctor.
