Strawberry picking...where/when is the best place ?

It might actually be too late. A friend of mine said she went this past weekend & she and her DH spent over an hour in the field without finding a single one.
I personally saw a bunch of people at Lewin's on Sunday on my way to the festival, but I don't know if that means they still have strawberries after the weekend.

I just went this past weekend and there were pretty much next to nothing. I was very upset! We picked raspberries instead! There were plenty of those!
