stray kitten

Hi - I have a stray kitten hanging outside my house. She is too scared to come to me - I have been leaving dry food and water for her. I want to get a cage and try to get her in it to take her to a clinich so they can neuter her and give her shots. I am in the Holbrook area - can anyone recommend someplace I can take her too - I can't seem to find anything online. thanks

also - do you think if after she has all shots and is healthy I would be able to take her in the house?

Re: stray kitten

I am not sure about the trapping part- sorry. I am sure some of the other ladies on here have resources they can refer you to though

But I did want to chime in on the question about keeping her.
I think if you got her to a vet, had her checked out and given shots, it would be perfectly fine for you to adopt her.

Just bear in mind that as a feral cat she might be very skittish for a while- and may well always be a bit more skittish than a cat born in captivity.
The younger she is when you take her in and start getting her used to humans, the better, obviously.

Good luck! I hope you can keep her!

Re: stray kitten

if you keep feeding it and giving it water she may come to you eventually. my mom feeds a stray kitten and its mommy in her backyard and once the kitten just walked into her kitchen when she opened the back door to give it food.

my parents neighbor also feeds all the stray cats on the block on the front yard and they all got used to her and let her feed them and pet them. she actually took 2 kittens in after taking them to the vet and they're very affectionate from what she's told me.

gl!

Contact Joanne from All About Spay/Neuter Inc. She helped us trap our ferals and found homes for some of the kittens. Even if she doesn't work in your area she may be able to help you find someone. Her email is [email protected]. Good luck!

ETA: Make sure you take her to a vet before letting her in your house. Many ferals have fleas.

thank you guys for your help. My firend is going to come by and help me catch her - I will try to take her to the place in bayshore. Do you think they will just take her in when I get her or do you think I will need an appointment?

They have certain hours that they do it. We considered having our kitten spayed there and then just had our vet do it. If you call them, there is a message telling you what time drop off and pick up is

Did you get her? You can try getting a trap from your local shelter. Place a fishy food in it and the kitten should go into it.
