Stress durring Pregnancy
I am really worried about how my stress level is going to effect the baby. The past few weeks have been extremely stressful between almost closing on our first home to having it ripped away at the last second. Not to mention my Grandpa is very ill all of a sudden and in the hospital. On top of this my work is crazy right now too. How do you handle stress and keep yourself calm. I was doing ok until today and I've basically been crying all day at work (with my door closed thank goodness).

Re: Stress durring Pregnancy
I'm sorry you are going through this- and about your grandpa.
I have had a tremendous amount of stress this pregnancy.
My mom was diagnosed with cancer (but is doing okay- thank God) I have a 3 and a 4 year old to care for. Work is stressful We sold our house, packed, moved out-moved in with my in-laws for three months. We bought our new house and moved in last week.
This weekend I got a terrible cold and just LOST it- crying and crying. I think I had just had it.
My philosophy is that babies and the human race have survived and succeeded with much worst- our own grandmas probably had much more stress than us. I think our babies will be just fine....

Re: Stress durring Pregnancy
I had a lot of stress the last and this pregnancy. I usually try and have an "oh well, what can I do about it" additude but when my friend I was going to see for the first time in 4 years killed himself, I let myself totally lose it for almost a week straight. All that it did was make my blood sugar out of whack (which the stress must have been so bad last time I had GD). and it gave me so many contractions I went to L&D last night. But nothing is wrong and considering, things are not too bad overall...my first child is as happy and healthy as can be! Maybe he learned to cope in my belly

Re: Stress durring Pregnancy
Sorry to hear about everything you are going through! During my last pregnancy, I read something explaining that the idea that stress is bad for the baby was actually an old wives' tale. It was saying that, of course, for your own health, it is best to avoid stress when possible, but that there have been no proven effects on unborn babies.
