Re: String Beans?
I saute them without the almonds, but at the very end throw in a few bread crumbs and some grating cheese.

Re: String Beans?
I blanch the skinny french string beans for 30 seconds (haricots vert), drain and dry...saute shallots in 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil, then add beans in to warm through. Add S&P. My fave way to cook string beans!

Re: String Beans?
what about if you bake them in a pyrex dish?
Add some olive oil and some butter - and some yummy breadcrumbs.
So good!

Re: String Beans?
I put them in the microwave tossed with a marinade (DH likes Lawry's havana garlic & lime) for 2 minutes. (We like them firm.)
I just got this recipe, but haven't tried it yet: 1lb green beans 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/2 teaspoon grainy or dijon mustard salt & pepper
cook beans in boiling water until crisp-tender, 5-7 minutes. Drain well. Heat oil in same pan. stir in mustard, salt & pepper. Add beans, toss to coat and remove from heat.

Re: String Beans?
My father makes a type of string bean salad that's so good.
He tosses together boiled string beans (leave a bit crunchy), potatoes and red onion with oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.
May sound weird buy I love it.

Re: String Beans?
My grandma used to make string beans with potatoes. Just boil the potatoes and string beans (separately) and then just season when they are done.
