I love the photoshop on the model - they clearly threw Jessica Alba's head on a random body and I don't know what they did with her elbow.

Did they buy the old rock/biker bar that was there?
I never used to see anybody going in that bar. That is right across the street from the LIRR parking lot for the Wantagh train station.
You might be thinking of Jugs N Strokers, which is still open, it's in Merrick

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
Honestly, the Billy Deans in Bellmore is in a somewhat residential area and I don't see anything wrong with it. I can't really see it affecting the area/being an issue.
It's not like there are naked women/men on display in the windows or anything like that.

This really is the most ridiculous thread. Do you think only pervs go to a strip club? Please folks, lets not get crazy here. Im willing to bet, some of you dhs will be stopping down for a drink. This is not the worst thing that could happen. You are making out to be like they are moving charles manson in.
And before anyone gets the panties all bunched up, this is completely MY OWN OPINION!

Hi Jenny and Kristen we will have to agree to diSagree.
I heard the one in bellmore is across from an elementary school which i personally think is wrong and honestly I moved out here to find a nicer neighborhood . Not to be mean but I guarantee your tone would change if this was in your backyard.
Honestly, if you think it's so ridiculous please come on Sunday and voice it at 10:30, a friendly debate is healthy and im sure channel 12 news would love to interview you!

I totally agree. Unless you are taking your child out at night, which I'm sure it when the most action for a strip club is, then I think you are safe....

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
that seems like a commercial spot... on Sunrise Hwy. I agree with other posters.. unless you were walking your kid around at night, I don't see the problem.
But i live in Brooklyn, so things like these don't bother me... I also don't own a home, etc... Don't know how I would feel if I owned a home close by. [shrug]

i agree with both of you. and this is from someone who grew up in wantagh/bellmore area. the billy dean's in bellmore is in a strip mall & has been there for as long as i can remember. its a plain store front with the sign above & darkened windows - nothing about it screams "WE'RE A STRIP CLUB!!!!" no flashing lights, naked posters in the windows, etc.
I went to that shopping center all the time when i was younger (they had a party experience store right next door to the club) i never even knew it what it was until i was older. i'm sure this club will have a similar look.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
A few restaurants used to be there before this. Granted, its near a residential area, but its still on Sunrise Highway.
Regarding the location in Bellmore, yes, its across the street from a school......but it has been there longer than I can remember. School is open during the day; Billy Deans is not. And if it is open.......I highly doubt any students are in school staring at naked bodies all day.
It hasnt caused any issues in the past, so why would the new location on Sunrise Hwy???

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
Why is this worse than any other bar?
Its not like its going to have huge windows that passersby can look into.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
Sorry but how is this thread ridiculous? Because not everyone wants a strip club in their backyard? Someone just wanted to get information out to other people in the area to give them a chance to voice THEIR opinions of it on Sunday. I know my stepfather plans to be there now so thank you OP.

I agree with some of the others. I don't believe it is a big deal. This is NOT a residential area, it's Sunrise HIGHWAY.
This coming from comeone who grew up in Massapequa with the Blue Parrot right on Merrick Road. I also live in Lindenhurst and have the Gaslight right on Sunrise. Heck, my niece was playing a game were you check into places for points. She was checkinginto the Gaslight thinking it was a bar. Kids have no idea unless you make a big deal about it.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
I grew up in North Bellmore - I remember when Billy Dean's went in and everyone was so upset.
Honestly, it hasn't created any issues that I know of. I use the Dunkin Donuts a few doors down, I've picked up take out next door and it's really not a big deal.
Is it something I would brag about to people? No. But at the end of the day, it's just another place of business.

I am surprised so many people do not see a problem with it. My biggest problem with it - above all else is that it would affect property values and change the dynamic of the neighborhood.
Lets be honest you do not see strip clubs in Plandome or Old Brookville ...

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford
What is so ridiculous about this thread?
Why can't people be opposed to something and ask for support?
I would be concerned on how this would affect my property value...

Thank you very much! I didn't move to Seaford to have a strip club in my backyard. I grew up in a nice place and I want to raise my children in a nice place
It can affect property values and since there is no parking around the location, it can spill into the residential area if people are parking their cars down Oakland, which is block whose corner is shared with Sunrise. The building directly behind what will be Billy Dean's IS someone's house and Oakland is strictly a residential block. So it's not a completely black and white issue. I don't think you'd want your newborn/infant/awoken by people just talking at a nominal level echoing throughout the neighborhood.
Yes, it's on Sunrise which is a commercial district. However, just as I can't stand the porters who work for Merrick Dodge blowing through the stop signs in our neighborhood as they transport cars around, I don't want a bunch of drunken fools pissing on my front lawn as they're stumbling back into their cars.
You're entitled to your opinion, but please respect the opinions of everyone else here.

I think most of the problems you describe here are not because of a strip club, but because you bought a house too close to the highway. Even if it was a McDonalds you might have people parking on the residential street and not the parking lot.
When we bought our house, we made sure it was a reasonable distance from highways, stores and even schools since we did not want to deal with this type of thing.
I'd rather have an isolated house in a lesser neighborhood than live in a better neighborhood but my house backs up to a 7-11. But that's just my preference.

I cannot agree with you more. I live in Seaford and do not have children and I am TOTALLY opposed to this. I do not pay an insane amount of taxes to have a strip bar in my neighborhood. Just out of curiosity to all that see nothing wrong with it do any of you live in Seaford or Wantagh?
