Stroke listed as Hayes' cause of death
A stroke claimed the life of legendary soul singer Isaac Hayes, according to the singer's doctor.
Dr. David Kraus, Hayes’ family physician listed stroke associated with hypertension as the singer’s cause of death on his death certificate, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Steve Shular said Tuesday.
Family members found Hayes lying on the floor next to a treadmill in his home early Sunday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said there was no indication that Hayes suffered fell or suffered any trauma before his stroke.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
