strollers at Disney
My ILs surprised us by telling us that they are taking us to Florida in September. DS will be 6 months old. We will be travelling with some other family members and their children (ranging in age from 2 -- 7). I do not anticipate being at a park everyday, but when we do go, I was wondering if my Mclaren Triumph will be okay. It does not recline much, but does it recline enough for a 6 month old to take some cat naps in while walking around? Thanks!

Re: strollers at Disney
It depends on what you want out of the stroller and your desire to lug what you need around.
I would take something a bit more comfortable - but it depends if you want to bring a lot to the parks - will you have enough room to put diapers, bottles etc - you have to leave your stroller everywhere so you would probably have to carry your bag with you everywhere.
We are bringing our metrolite - DD will be 15 months and we will be spending more time in the parks BUT for us - I wanted to be able to leave an inexpensive bag with diapers, snacks, change of clothes etc in the stroller and carry or chase around a 20 lb baby and all that around with me.
Also I was worried about the sun - my Maclaren quest I don't think has a good sun cover at all - depending on when you are going this might be a consideration.
For us- if my DD was 3 I would probably take my Maclaren - b.c I would have to carry less to the parks and didn't think she would nap much in it than I would take it - but she will be 15 months I wanted a snack tray, the bigger sun canopy and the bigger basket.

When we went, Hayley was 13 months. I bought a lightweight cheap stroller from Sears. It had a snack tray, cup holder for me and basket undereath for the diaper bag. It didn't lay flat but did recline enough for Hayley to sleep...then again, she will sleep anywhere Easy enough to fold up to take on the bus.

Re: strollers at Disney
Thanks for the replies. My other option is a pretty big stroller... Peg perego Venezia. My question next question is... with a big stroller, what happens on the airplane? We are flying Southwest from Islip.

You can just check it at the gate before boarding. There are no problems with that. I have seen people gate check joggers and double strollers.
At Disney we took our Mac Techno. But it has a full recline and DD was 16 months.

Yeah the venezia is a bigger stroller - our regular stroller for DD is the zippy by inglesina - but we are taking my parents metrolite which is the stroller they have for DD at their home. No matter what stroller you use...you have two options. You could always consider getting a cheapy second stroller for the trip - you can usually find a decent deal on a cheaper stroller online or an older model in the stores.
Well you can do one of two things: 1) check it with your luggage (some airlines count it towards your baggage limit - others don't) OR 2) gate check it.
That is what we are doing - b/c it is less handling of your stroller - If you check it the regular way - they will most likely throw your stroller around (if you ever watch them loading bags onto flights you will know what I'm talking about). Your stroller could still get damaged with a gate check but it doesn't have as much of a chance as regular checking does. Also no matter what stroller you get I would suggest getting a stroller bag to protect it from getting filthy.

Re: strollers at Disney
I did not bring my stroller into the parks, I rented theres. It was such a pain folding it up to get on the trams and through the security at the park that I carried the baby in a sat him in the rented one and it was fine. I layed a towel down and he slept in it.

Re: strollers at Disney
You can get a stroller bag at BBB and I think BRU has them but I know BBB has them.
Shannon is right you can rent them at disney - but I don't know if it is a great solution for a 6 month old. B/c they don't recline at all, don't have a basket, and don't have any real support. But if you want to bring blankets and pillows you could prop them in - DD was sitting up very well at 6 months but I wouldn't have put her in them for a day. They are a great solution for an older child. If you do go with the rental - bring towels to dry off the stroller if it rains and an extra pancho to throw over the stroller in case it rains so it doesn't get soaked.
They are $15 a day to rent or $13 per day if you buy length of stay pass. A double is I think $31 for the day and $27 or 28 for length of stay.
here is a link about the strollers: http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/strol_faq.htm
Here are a few pics of the single strollers: Magic Kingdom:
Epcot:
Animal Kingdom
Hollywood Studios:
Hope that helps some.
