strollers for older kids?
DS is 5, DD is 3. We haven't used a stroller lately but I'm not sure if we should get rid of it.
really, I only time I can think of using it would be if we went to the zoo or someplace big like that.
we have gone to both LI aquarium and NY aquarium this past winter and did not use it but they are both small.
for the few times we should need one, should we just rent?

Re: strollers for other kids?
I think I would keep it. I have 4 year old twins that i had double stroller for and I took it with me to the Bronx zoo last summer. I had not used it in awhile and was thinking of getting rid of it as well but it really came in handy for the zoo. In fact my 7 year old was begging me to let him have a turn riding in it b/c he was so tired but he was way too big for the stroller.

Re: strollers for older kids?
My twins haven't been a stroller regularly since they were 2 1/2 but they are hand holders.
The only exception was this past summer at Disney, they were 4 and we had my used side by side stroller. We left it with the concierge for donation and returned to NY w/o one.
We walked the NY Aquarium a few weeks ago without one and the Bronx Zoo. I'd be tempted in NYC but I think maneuvering a double stroller around the streets and buildings of midtown would be more of a p.i.t.a.

Re: strollers for older kids?
I did the same, I took 2 side by sides to disney for my 4 and 5 year old then donated them too (bought for $3 at a thrift store)
I would say getting rid of your double at this point is fine.

Re: strollers for older kids?
i would say getting rod of the stroller would be fine...
I used the stroller 2x last year (DS was 2 months shy of 4 and DD was 1 month shy of being 2) once we used it at dutch wonderland.. and then we used it when we went to the city and the kids were 4 & 2, and if they sat it in the stroller for an hour, that was a lot.
if you go somewhere big and your kids can't walk, rent one...

Re: strollers for older kids?
I held onto one of of lightweight strollers for the little one. She isn't even ours --- I babysit for her --- she is 3. But sometimes she will fall esleep in the car on the way to pick DD up from school and so it is just easier to put her in the stroller to run into the school then to try and carry her. She weighs 37 lbs and I am 8.5 months pregnant so that's a lotta weight to be running around carrying!
